Code p0171

My CEL has been on for awhile while coolant slowly leaked from the hoses. I took it to the shop they put on new hoses and clamps and the CEL went away for a couple days and eventually came back. The coolant leak seems to be taken care of but the CEL is still on. I got a cheap code reader off Amazon to see what I could find out. Pictures of results included if it helps ID the issue. I’ve read in other threads I might just need to clean the MAF sensor.

 

Is that your idle rpm at 2000 rpm? I had a P0171 cause by the IACV. It went away when I replaced it with a new one. Maybe your throttle body is stuck open with carbon causing that idle rpm. Check the cables going to the throttle body that they are not tight and pulling it open. They should all have a slight amount of play. Could be MAF. Maybe a vacuum leak with that short term fuel trim. Short term should be negative 10 to positive 10. RPM should be like 700.

 

Start by cleaning the MAF(if equipped). Reset code with reader after you've done that. P0171(lean) can be caused by a lot of things.
