My son's 2007 Tacoma has an ABS light on. What kind of code reader are people using that will read Toyota ABS codes but maybe also work for other vehicles? I wont know how to use most features so something basic that meets those criteria would be great.

Be careful what you purchase. I have a Launch 129E purchased off of Ebay and when it did an update the internal S/N disappeared making it useless. It's a brick now. Neither the U.S. distributor nor the Chinese manufacturer will help you. The U.S. distributor told me it was purchased from a Chinese distributor located in an NJ distribution warehouse. The Chinese manufacturing contact told me to contact the U.S. distributor. All you get is a run-a-round. I came to the conclusion the Launch was purchased from a Chinese seller on EBay by-passing its U.S. distributor partnership and this is why the U.S. distributor will not help. The OBD reader I have now, Innova 5610, was purchased from a local auto parts store and it does everything I need it to do.

Yea most of the scanners on Amazon and ebay are Chinese grey market tools, they work well for the most part but support is non-existent but that's why they are much cheaper than US official tools.

I've used both and the only difference is support and warranty but that's the tradeoff, official US tools cost more but they typically have support and an actual warranty behind them. Grey market tools are cheaper but don't expect there to be any useful support or warranty.

If you want US official tools get them from the US suppliers or official vendors.

Welp. I ordered it on Amazon because that's what's easy for me. Same price as on the Topdon website. We'll see.

In the meantime the ABS light has gone off despite the fact that the truck hasn't moved. Does that clue mean anything to anyone following this thread?

Topdon sells on Amazon so that shouldn't be an issue.

Just means the fault is not currently present but the code(s) should still be stored in history.
