y dont u order a few cases of oil online?

difference between 5 30 and 5-40 is at operating temps. at startup they are both the same weight. the 5 30 stays thinner then the 5-40 or 5-50 when they are heated up. the hilux should use the same oil as the taco no?

I will try to email toyota, and I will search for the ultimate 5w30, but seems to be vry hard to find. We used to put 15w40 or 10w40 on hilux 3.0d4d and all other diesel engines and that's good.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
It could very well be that Toyota approves of oil of that grade for your area. I am presuming that Tahiti has a average temp of in the 80's year round and if the HiLux engine is a gas engine and they use 5/10-40 that may be OK.
I really think you should have told us that you live in Tahiti, as probably Tahiti never see temps below 60deg . The ambient temps do make a difference and I just noticed that Tahiti never goes below 69deg on average.
Since Toyota makes the HiLux, contact a Hilux dealer and have them contact a Toyota help line, to find out what is recommended for your truck, in the South Pacific

Yep except that the hilux here have only diesel engines D4D, so I will call them but not sure they have the answer because they don't know the 4.0 v6 petrol engine, but thanks again for your help
