while you're doing maintenance be sure to do the PHH (pesky heater hose). I'd bet money it hasn't been replaced and is probably in rough shape. If it fails on you, you're stranded and lose all your coolant. Do a little searching on MUD for how-to's. Simple fix and totally worth the hassle.

I'd also guess that your front axle seals are probably leaking and needing to be replaced. Cruiser Outfitters has a sweet front end rebuild kit with all the new seals and bearings etc. Not a very difficult job but takes some time and is very messy. Basically you'll need to pull the front hubs apart and get the axles out and clean them all up and repack the birfs with grease and replace the wheel bearings, trunion bearings and inner axle seals. Lots of how-to's on that one too on MUD.

Those two things are probably the most common things needing attention.

I doubt it's the tranny. I haven't ever seen one of these trannies go out. I'd bet it's either coming from worn ujoints or loose splines in the driveshaft, or bad bearings somewhere. Could easily be bad wheel bearings in the front end. Mine were bad and making all kinds of noise when I got my truck. Could also be a pinion bearing but I'd check the wheel bearings and driveshaft first.

holy cow this thread needs some love, the cruiser.... umm.. has had not one but TWO accidents in the last little bit, so all the fun stuff has been put on hold until recently, we painted the running boards to cover some rust, and i think i have a lead on getting a new hatch!

Since my Tacoma has been taking a break for some overdue maintenance. We've been taking the cruiser out on some trips.

we decided to ditch the stock torn up raggidy leather center console cover and go with something alittle more festive.
