possibly a dumb question, but is there an orientation to the coil when installed? I received my 887 /5100 coil setup, and curious as to whether the coils have to be positioned a certain way. I thought I read this somewhere.

The coil or the whole coilover?

Yes, there is a top and bottom to the springs themselves. The small end with the loop is the top and the wider part with the pigtail is the bottom. There's is a notch/step on the lower mount on the strut that the pigtail rests in when you assemble everything:

Speaking of which: when you assemble everything make sure to get the top plate and the bottom shock mount lined up correctly with each other or you'll have problems installing the strut/spring assembly onto the truck.

They are assembled as the unit. I thought I read that the bottom end of the coil faced the rear. Not sure if that makes sense.

I added a picture. Does this go to the rear or does it matter?16A4184D-DE06-4947-AE3A-F63574BD4546.jpg
