Just use your LCAs to do it, I didn't even have to loosen the cam tabs. just watch the Wheel speed sensor and brake lines, it's a breeze.

I own the same, last time I used them was for the '97 Tacoma. Bought a hydraulic compressor doing rear shocks on a 2000 Lexus GS300, that actually worked well for the rear coils, fronts, no. Traded it to my mechanic for replacing the fuel filter on the '97.

Bought these things for the heck of it Ended up with a knot in the middle of my forehead.

Pay the $100 since it includes new top mounts. The time and headache you will save makes up for the difference in cost.

My goal is to round up the lift, egcs bushing, a arms, wheels and tires and to do it all in one swoop. You buttholes showing of your lifts is making me impatient. I’ve got about a year left on my wife’s grand cherokee’s note, any by then the taco will be almost paid off. budget will be less of an issue, I just wanna do it right the first time. I just wanna get my ducks in a row when it’s time to order parts.

It was absolutely worth it for me. I also like having the stock ones compressed with their original top hats in case I ever want to revert back to stock or trade/sell the truck. It makes it both quick and easier.

Add longer brake lines to the shopping list as well. All-Pro / Trail Gear sells them.

Same. Weight of the vehicle is so much better. I’ve used wall mounted compressors and even the ones OP used. They bend. It’s pretty gnarly to hold that much tension in your hand knowing countless people have abused that tool.

Yep, I figured I'd rather take a little more time to do it than to have a swirly piece of metal sticking out of my face if something went wrong.

Thanks! I used this technique last night and it worked great... except that my driver's side top nut was seized and I couldn't get the strut out. Just ordered and new strut due to a fifty cent nut. Otherwise, thanks for the informative post!

No worries! This is by far the safest method to change a coil and it’s super easy. I always take a dremel to the top nut and cut it off when they seize up. Those things can be a pain.
