Hey all, I have a 2011 taco DCLB with a 3 inch toytec lift, radflo coil-overs with Dakar leaf springs.

my ride is a little rough especially going over bumps. I was wondering if it is possible to add strut extensions to my coil-overs so I can decompress the springs a little for a smoother ride. I tried to see if any one else has attempted this but haven't found anything.

    thanks!

Yeah I don't think that's an option. What you can do is get a softer spring rate and replace the coil that's already on there

I think what you are trying to do is replace one spacer lift with another. The toytec spacer preloads the spring which results in a rough ride. There are top plate spacers out there, not sure what company though. But if you get a top plate spacer and ditch the preload spacer your ride will improve. Just remember that with a longer strut assembly you increase the stress on the mounts and could break a shock.

He has the Radflo Coilovers as stated in the OP. my guess is the get longer springs and replace the inches you have now so you don't have to put as much preload on then to et the same amount of lift.

This is the lift he described:

My coilovers i have now dont have a spacer in them. They achieve lift by cranking a collar on them down to compress the springs. Same thing as a spacer but you get to adjust your ride height to what you want. I realize that more stress would be added by putting the strut extension on, i just want a happy medium by adding a 1 inch extension or so and letting the coils up a little so the ride is smoother.

Get a longer spring and problem solved.

I guess if I paid more attention I would have seen that! Sorry. But the outcome is still the same. :)

Let us know how it goes!
