Coils with same axle, not talking about independent rear

The Russian cat did it for something like $500, was easy. Said the ride is night/day difference

He used arms from Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero & coils, shocks and link from Land Cruiser 80.

I know the coils are fairly easy to interchange, is why I was asking for coil spring rate. I hardly ever carry a HEAVY load, I DD my taco and light off-road. Coils would be perfect for someone like me. It seems it would be possible to swap out the coils for a heavy load.

People installing rear disc brakes from 4Runners, why not rear suspension from a Land Cruiser :D

    Ahhhhh, okay I see.

    OHHH!

okay it's almost like if you cut off the back part of the leaf spring and then just used it as a pivot, of course I mean you're replacing it but still that's kind of the idea. So it pivots from the front and uses the Springs to control it?

    Interesting.

A couple of weeks ago I saw this strange picture where a guy had vertical shocks and coils holding up his axle, there was no picture or anything else it was just straight bolted to the frame. that's kind of what I was imagining, and that's why I was confused because I can't imagine that that would work very well with torque

My buddy snaps cv's in his IFS chevy everytime he even looks in a rocks direction. So i would say theres a reason that solid axle is in such an amazing truck. Too bad they never put them in the front from the factory! The tacoma would be too overpowered

I saw just reading a thread on pirate4x4 about guys using FJ80 coils on their 4Runners, same diameter top and bottom- said they are beefier but flex well. Also added a few inches lift, for any of you guys with 4Runners

FJ80 rear coils to lift rear of 2nd gen ('90-95) Runners
FJ80 front coils to lift rear of 3rd gen ('96-2002) Runners

Reduce clearance, I know I would have rode mine a few times with my 16' when I had it. It has its pro's and con's. I would only do traction bars on 35's and blocked rear axle with our trucks.

From crazy Russian's build thread, better pics of how he put it together.
I don't see any sort of limiting strap or his coils being tied into the mounts, something I would definitely do.
Notice he also optioned for the rear disc brakes

The man built his own front bumper!
