I updated the first post with the Fox 2.0's measurements.

OK, so you you have the "buy once, cry once" lesson about halfway learned. You dropped $ once on a fashion only lift, and now your topping out when you want function. So now you want to buy again, but only 3/4 ass (slightly more than half ass)?

If you want the most lift, and most travel (droop in your case), the new King ext and whatever uniball UCA you want. Thats the route I would have went if money was no option, but the Icon kit was several hundred $ cheaper, so thats the route I went. I ended up lifting the front 2", and with the 2" of ext travel the Icon kit gives, i'm sitting at net 0 in regards to up travel and down travel.

Just throwing a Fox 2.0 on your truck will make it ride nicer, and you can lower your ride height a bit to stop topping out so bad, but now you tires will be rubbing off road. Save up and do it once. Also, you really need to learn how to work on your own rig. Think of all that installer money you can put towards your truck parts instead of labor.

So, what I'm taking away from this is, "learn to do it myself and buy a lot of tools." :). So, extended drive shocks and replace UCA with something worth a shit. I do want to say thank you for getting for the point. Blunt is better.

No prob, lol  You really don't need a lot of tools to change the arms and coils. Jack, jack stands, and a socket set, and a hammer. An Impact sure makes it nice though..

Besides droop benefits on the extended travel, are there benefits in getting the standard Kings instead if I'm only lifting the front minimally, for example ride quality? I'm guessing nothing much since both have the same compression specs but wanted to be sure. If there's no benefit then why does King even make the standard? Thanks in advance for the help!

Standard travel coilovers pair well with OEM UCA'S.

Are there any disadvantages with the extended travel with only using a minimal lift compared to the standard travel? Ride quality?

I dont know. I chose standard because I have no intentions of replacing my stock UCA'S or lifting beyond 2.5".

Reading through this thread again, because I got another Tacoma.

Good stuff! Any updated reviews from the guys on here running the extended coilovers?

In my opinion, no reason NOT to run extended travel coilovers if you are upgrading your upper control arms. No changes in performance on the road, and more droop when you need it.

That seems like the case to me as well. It almost doesn’t seem like a +2” long travel is even worth it.

Any of you guys running the JBA control arms with your extended travel coilovers? From their marketing at least, it seems like they would allow the most travel in an upper control arm. And I like the idea of a sealed joint to protect from corrosion and possibly prevent a little time spent doing quite as much routine maintenance.

Anybody have more pictures of the extended coilovers working offroad? I am a little on the fence as to whether I should do that or just do an SAC. Can you push me one way or the other?

Bringing this back from the dead. I have a set of 22” extended SAW 2.5 coilovers lying around and i’m waiting on my SPC upper control arms to come in. I’m assuming this qualifies as extended travel.

Are oem lower control arms good for this setup?

Will 22” coilovers be too long and ended up being too compressed, causing damage to the shock?

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know the source of king specs in the first post? They do not agree with specs in this article:

    https://accutuneoffroad.com/oem-front-coilover-shock-setup/

The compressed length of the king in the first post is 16.75” and is 17.3” in the accutune article, but the extended length is approximately the same in both: 22.6”.
