Coilover Spacer Help

    Hey guys and girls, I am hoping that you can help me with information regarding extended rod ends or shaft spacers for my coilovers.

    I currently have a mid travel set up with King coilovers, and I have just added Allpro leafs in the back which have provided 4" of lift in the rear and now my front is nose diving so I need to adjust my coilovers. I am about to add a plate bumper, so given that my Kings can only provide 3" of lift once fully extended, I was wondering if it is possible to extended the rod ends or add a shaft spacer? I see that they have different sizes rod ends so I was thinking that if I added a 2" end and left the coilovers where they are, I would be able to obtain the lift I want without having to adjust all the way up.

    Has anyone got experience doing this? I have reached out to King but have yet to hear back and would like to get it done relatively soon if this is a possible solution. I have also see shaft spacers, but they do not look at sturdy.

    My rod ends are the short ones, but I saw these when searching online. I was thinking 2" ones if possible

    You need a heavier rate spring and then probably a shock revalve.

    Rear might settle with weight and time aswell.

    I believe that I did get a heavier spring when I first got them but will look into that, thank you!

    The rear should settle to 3" once it is loaded with about 500lbs from my understanding, but even if I lifted my front end, it will max out at 3" (probably not safe on coilovers), and once I add the bumpers it will settle more. I am trying to achieve a nice 3" lift overall in the safest way possible because I do heavily wheel this truck.

    You just don't want to lift all the way and have no droop travel. It will handle poorly. You have to find happy medium. I am having similar issue on my LT truck. Added winch and lost 2" of height, but don't want to crank coils. Needs more spring and revalve. Had F55 on rear, went F67, so now it's stinkbug, almost level with some weight and time/use.

    Wouldn’t the shock extenders just reduce down travel even more and further angle the CVs.

    The rear should settle. I would look at swapping coils for a heavier spring to compensate for the weight. After all the coil is what holds the truck up.

    That is my fear. Once I add a bumper and winch I am going to be going back down to where I am at now by maxing out my coilover, which I really want to avoid doing. That is why I was thinking that if I had a solid inch or two extra, I wouldn't have to adjust my coilovers. Also, I do have aftermarket uniball control arms, but I don't want to lose travel either.

    I would love to go long travel, but I don't think I do anything that warrants it. I mostly do some trails and "overlanding" at this point

    I will ask King about that. Ideally I would like the front to sit 2" higher than it does right now, even after the bumper and winch are installed. I believe that you are right though, I will most likely lose down travel

    While I don’t have the same gen, standard coil weights could not handle front plate bumper and skids. I uped my coils to 700# and truck sits the way it should and performs significantly better.

    I think upgrading your coils will give you much better performance over shock extenders.

    The spacer can push the suspension arms and ball joints further than designed. The uniball arms are your friend, good to have. More spring rate for more weight. You don't need Lt, just saying I have similar issue.

    So my best bet is to up the spring rating and adjust the coils higher to achieve the lift that I am looking for?

    I currently have the front lifted an inch, but my ultimate goal is 3"

    Yup. My kings are adjusted to 2.75 inches and I’m running 700# Springs. I’m assuming yours is running 600# Springs.

    You can crank them for more lift now, but with winch and plate bumper you need more spring.

    K & N filter, 275 70 17 Cooper AT3, OME Nitrocharger shocks, 884 Springs, Dakar leafs.
    You can lengthen the shocks or add spacer within reason, I think with stock length arms I'm just under 3" with 2" of droop which is just enough.. I'm running a 1/4" spacer on the drivers side to even out the front. I could see adding up to another 1/4" on both, but more than that I think you would need a heavier spring... But I have the FOX shocks and I know they are longer than stock.

    I have the FOX DSC with std springs with a stock bumper and almost 3" lift and it's great running at the dunes, If I add a bumper/winch I think I will need heavier springs, it will be too soft...

    If you crank the springs down too tight they will bind...
