I have a 2016 Tacoma 4x4. I am looking for a lift that will affect my gas mileage to much. I was told about a coilover insert, this system will give me the lift I want. Is there anything I should be aware of about the insert? what is the difference between the insert and a regular coilover?

    Any information will help

Welcome to TW! I assume you forgot a word in your post above, or are you looking for a lift that will affect your gas mileage? Just giving you shit!
Short answer all lifts could affect MPG a little tiny bit (more wind resitance), but not as much as larger tires. Overall simply lifting a truck is not the MPG killer, its the bigger heavier tires that will.

There is not any type of lift that will affect it more or less than any other (of equal height). Again, large, heavy mud terrain tires will hurt it more.

I'm not sure what you mean by "insert" lift? There are basically 4 ways to lift.

    1. Spacers: Cheap, porest ride quality, hardest on components. These simply bolt above your factory shocks and push everything down, in turn lifting your truck up. If you will never see dirt road, are completely broke, and dont care alot about your truck go this route.
    2. Height adjusting shocks (Bilstien 5100's): Fairly Cheap, good ride quality, not too bad for your truck. These replace your shocks and load the spring, in turn lifting the truck. If you will off-road a little, are only partially broke and want a decent set up, go this route.
    3. New Springs and Shocks (Old Man EMU, and others). Moderately expensive, great ride quality, easier on your truck. This would be a replacement of springs and shocks, the taller springs lift the truck the better shocks are, well, better. If you off road a fair amount (even alot), have a decent budget, and want a bomb proof set up, go this route.
    4. Coilovers: (Icon, king, fox, OME, etc) Most expensive, great ride Quality, not too bad for your truck and adjustable ride height. A coilover just replaces springs and shocks. If you off road a fair amount (even alot), have a large budget, and want a bomb proof set up, go this route.

Rear: you can do block, add-a-leaf, or full springs.

Use the search you will find enough info on this to make your head explode.

    Welcome to tw! :)
I can only assume by insert you're referring to a spacer lift. Definately cheaper than any other lift so if it's just for looks then that my be the right choice. But if u want the lift for offroading, you may want to consider the other options listed above. Remember, you get what you pay for and if you lift more than 2.5 inches in the front you may need to buy some aftermarket upper control arms in order to get the right alignment
