I need to replace my current stock CAI because it's broke (see pictures below). So I have no choice since a factory replacement is in the range of $350-$450 and the aftermarket units are much cheaper.

I installed an S&B intake, but long story short this thing is not working for me. So I'm considering an AFE stage 2 Si or the Volant Intake kit.

My main concern is that the unit is sealed from the air intake hose to the air box. I don't want engine temperature air getting into the air box. I'd like to remain as factory (in concept) as possible.

So does anyone have some picture of either or both of the above mentioned brands installed on the 3.4L 5VZ-FE motor? Are they both sealed in units?

Pics of the the problem and current setup.

Why not just replace the boot? $2-3.

Take a look at the 2nd picture. The air box is broke (being held on by duct tape).

So do you have a CAI (either of the two brands)?

Since when does the boot cost 2-3$? They tend to crack, so I wouldn't buy a used one..

those airboxes brake a lot too... there is another oem airbox that uses bolts to secure the MAF housing, seems like a better design. maybe look for one of those.

I've never found the boot/hose let alone one for $2-$3 so I'm not sure about that. As for the air box, the best price I could find was $200 shipped on rockauto for an aftermarket version (that i don't trust).

So I just went with something else.

    PM sent

I won't post the entire review I submitted to Low Range, but needless to say the owner of both Low Range and S&B contacted me because of it. I have nothing but good things to say about low range, good folks and I'll be back for more products from them for sure.

The box is not sealed so, all the engine temp air gets pulled into the box and thus into your intake. I'll just sum it up by saying that the quality and design are sub par and neither of those opinions were disputed.

Do you have the AFE stage 2 SI (with the sealed box)? Have any pictures of it installed that I could see (from different angles). For the MAF sensor was there a brass insert that got stripped out or was it plastic?
