My buddy has a volant on his silverado. Made the engine sound so much more throaty. Plus I like the protection box that comes with them. He got the dry filter and it was really cool.

Volant. K&N is a hot air intake. You gain less horsepower guarantee.

Fuck K&N, and the volant I heard either gets no gains or has lean issues.

URD "ram air" style intake gets my vote, hands down got me a very noticeable gain of power, though I have a blower so your results may vary. Ignore the semi rusty bar over the engine bay. I still need to paint it.

I have the Volant. I likie.

It works well with my S/C, but honestly I might be ditching it as soon as Safari comes out with their snorkle to go back to that and the stock setup. Really, unless you are going to do headers, exhaust, y-pipe, and CAI plus then do the UCON or some other tuning to get everything dialed in together just save your money and don't buy either. Just slapping on a CAI alone to the stock engine only makes noise. If you like noise, that's fine, but don't kid yourself that you gained any noticeable power with just a CAI.

Do you happen to know what size tubing your URD intake is? Looks like 3"...

Stock - maybe drop in an AFE, if you're feeling fancy? If you want to feel fast, paint it red and put a bunch of dbag stickers all over it. Save your money. :bananadead:

    EDIT: It's early and I couldn't spell. Fixed. :-D

I like the URD was the one that seemed actually different than the other "cold air intakes". It puts the filter ahead of the engine and intercooler, whereas the filter housing and filter in all other designs are still inside the engine bay. To me that just seems that despite the others pulling cold air from the wheel well, the air still has to travel through a warm air filter and then even warmer pipes into engine. The filter at the cold air filters the air while its still cold and then goes to engine. I also like that URD also sells headers, y-pipes and cat back exhausts on their website and tests them. My plan, if I keep the truck, is to do install a complete URD filter to tailpipe install, maybe throw a URD supercharger in there too!

I bought it for the TRD SC but since Toyota killed the SC program I left it there for shits & giggles. Now that Magnuson is planning to bring back the SC they made and design for Toyota with a few tweaks to the SC and reflash tune I'll keep the Cold Air intake and wait and see

    Bone Stock.Why mess with perfection?Except...
CAI only = Increased noise. Just measure decibels and you've got your answer. Now, if you really want more hp/torque, start buying high octane gasoline and adding a little methane. ;) :deadhorse: You know what I be sayin'. Just kidding. Don't waste your money on a cai.
