It will be worth the wait. It adds better throttle response. I don't really think it added too much power and my mpgs actually went down when I had the prototype on my truck but that's because I couldn't keep my foot in line, it just wanted to be heavy on the gas pedal for some reason. I think it was the sound of the intake. :burnrubber:

I don't really care about anything other than the noise. I want the added throaty ness. But I won't use k&n intakes or filters

cold air intake adds maybe like 8hp usually. nothing you will ever notice. even an exhaust won't usually be a noticeable change unless you are doing a massive overhaul and removing every emissions part.

Hopefully this won't make you not want the Airaid product but k&n actually owns them along with a couple other intake companies. They almost have a monopoly it seems. Airaid still does their own R&D in Phoenix and they use their own different filters as far as I know. They guys in Phoenix are awesome.

I know that in the 2nd Gen 4 cylinder you actually loose power unless you tune it. My buddy has one and he had to to get his lower end torque back.

The 3rd get with the Airaid intake didn't seem to lose anything.

only thing I'd be interested with the new one is a snorkel. otherwise I plan on leaving mine alone engine wise. I've had too many modified cars. It becomes more of a pain in the ass than it does fun after a while. Only thing I might do is a simple tune if one becomes available. But from what I understand with the tacoma ecu is its not flashable. If you want to tune you need a stand alone system.

I'm with you on that. My last car was a fully bolted and stage 2 tuned 300 hp/300 torque mazdaspeed 3. By the end all the mods became more trouble that it was worth. Intake will be all I do engine wise to this truck

I figured I would post this up since AutoAnything has a Promo running right now. K&N ordered!

I was originally going to hold out for the AFE kit but at $425, the K&N is less than half the price

It's more the design than the brand. The K&n's are really cheesey usually

Wow! They won't ship to CA because of emissions!!

I called their customer service and the guy got really butt hurt after I asked why cant they ship it to me if K&N can, he got an attitude saying its a federal offense and what not. What about if I was using it strictly off road ... Not.

    I've had a built 520hp sti
    780hp supra with meth injection
    mk2 jetta with 350hp
1990 corrado VR6 with meth and a massive turbo, 600hp
my current 06 jetta tdi has cams injectors exhaust turbo and tuning, but kept somewhat tame, its got more power for passing but nothing over the top. with my mods could get a lot more out of it with more tuning but not worth destroying the transmission with that torque.

The supra wasn't drivable in the city and a nightmare to insure, the sti, jetta and corrado blew, jetta surprisingly is fine but then again I dont push it hard, and its the least built as it is my daily.
Ya I'll pass on sinking that kind of money in a vehicle again only to deal with the problems. Its fun to drive on the track and highway and thats about all. And you can kiss reliability goodbye. I will definitely be keeping the engine relatively stock other than exhaust and a snorkel when available. I'm buying a tacoma for reliability, not going to go throw that away lol. I just want capability to go anywhere to find a nice campsite and explore ontario and the east coast, and still be able to drive to work each day. Plus keeping MPG would be nice with rising fuel cost here.

Besides I know there's someone on here with a comment as his signature about someone who has a supercharged and tuned tacoma, and pretty much got little gains. No thanks.
