Been gone for a couple months fellas. Didn't read too many responses since I've been gone couple of questions:

I saw someone had the afe intake...any thoughts on it good or bad?

Does anyone have the k&n since you can get it for $199 from auto anything after a promo code?

I'm going to call my local dealership regarding the tranny tsb....any thoughts?

I have the afe. I'm personally not a fan of any intake that doesn't have a box because they heat soak because they draw from the air in the engine. I have no thoughts on the transmission tsb.

Just had mine (TRD 4x4 Prius) J/K,, ... done a couple of days ago. Noticeable difference in gear change from R to D, no hard knock on shift, acceleration HAS improved ....

Awesome thanks fellas. I'll try and get mine in this weekend to get it done and check around some on the different intakes. That'll be my next purchase within the next couple of months.

    right at 300 bucks.

hey man, sounds good. I'll check out reviews and pros/cons over the next month or two and see what people think of both. I've always like the way K&N looked over others but performance is better than looks.

true. My concern was water getting sucked into that open design, I almost jumped on the K&N
too for the great price but the water worry would have eventually got the better of me.

yeah that's something to think about as well. I've always had open intake designs on all of my other vehicles. I've never had a problem with the water on them.....but they also didn't take me into the mountains with streams and such either. Guess I'll just have to see what people say after a little driving with them.

My last 2 were volant and were perfect, the only change here should be sound
now that we've got a 3.5. I'm thinking I'm going to really like it, as the aftermarket filter
and deck plate mod made a nice little change so this aFe should be just right.

Looks like the K&N rubber seal does a good job of sealing agaisnt the bottom of the hood when closed.
I marked the rubber seal with wet plasti dip and closed the hood, upon opening I can see there was good contact made against the hood.
It's not so open like everyone thinks, at least not all of the hot air is coming in so easy.

    Thank you for the reply!
I've checked the website several times and I don't see the AFE intake available for the Tacoma.
    Does anyone have a link?

Nice! Mine is coming in tomorrow from FedEx and is going on right away. I was one of the lucky ones that got it from AutoAnything before they realized the discount shouldn't have applied

Just installed mine in the pouring rain, I also have the magna flow cat back, it's a great combo, don't really notice a whole lot till I hit 3k def a deeper engine sound, and a little bit of whistle coming from the engine bay, from the movement of all that air. Overall I haven't driven enough to notice a power change but I'm still really glad I made this purchase.
