Two questions one: did you get the attachment piece that goes to the front of your grill?
Question two: you drive stick or auto?

    Awesome vid man thankx

My stock intake is loud enough to hear in the cab and I get a nice woosh noise when I hit the throttle, and a turbo like whistle. I imagine this intake will make that a little more noticeable, per outcasts review. Still debating if it's worth the $$$

My Review on the AFE Intake Pro Dry W/O additional scoop piece:

Got it on yesterday, very simple if you know how to tie your shoes, or can follow directions on how to do so.

    Subject:

    Stock suspension
    265/70/17 BFG KO2
Post Tranny TSB, about 400 miles- (get this done NOW. Big improvement in overall driveability)
    Stock Exhaust

    Method:
Two 0-70mph runs Prior to install. 1 in normal mode, 1 in ECT mode. To compare sound and butt-dyno feel.
Two 0-70mph runs After install. 1 in normal mode, 1 in ECT mode. To compare sound and butt-dyno feel.
I put the cover on the hole in the front, I will later remove to compare.

    Observations:
After install the intake is hard to notice in normal driving conditions, if you give more throttle input, you will definitely hear a deep growl letting you know it's there. Throttle response seems improved, but it might be due to growling sound. WOT really wakes it up and you get a loud roar 2600 RPM +, sounds really good IMO.

During the 0-70 Post-install runs, definite improvement according to super scientific and accurate butt-dyno. The power does seem to really come in more at the higher RPM range though, not a big difference in the low-end. In my morning commute getting on the freeway and passing there was a noticeable improvement.

    Overall Findings:
Happy with the purchase. The intake is made very well, fits perfectly and sturdy. It was exactly what I was looking for in terms of sound, quiet during normal conditions, but if you just step on it a little you can tell it's there, at WOT sounds like a monster! The performance gains are just icing on the cake (if any), but according to my observations I could definitely tell a difference. Would recommend if you are looking for an intake with these particular characteristics.

    Note:
On my 2005 Nismo Frontier I installed the Nismo Intake, it is very similar to the K&N design. It was much louder, but what I did not like is that the rubber seal that seals against the hood eventually started falling apart and ultimately failed. The AFE design does not seem to have this concern.

    Edit: pics

Update us after 2 or 3 tanks. I'm more curious if you gain any fuel economy out of it. All "CAI" I have ever experienced on a N/A commuter vehicle did little to nothing for performance, but I usually always gained at least a mpg increase. Thanks.

Next person who installs, use the app performance cam and record before and after runs.

The cam uses gps to show speed, and will auto record 0-60 times, 1/8m and 1/4m and 30-60 etc. Pretty cool app, and it's speed matches my speedo exactly

Good stuff dude. Put mine on @ 5:30 am this morning, was just too busy last night.

Sounds is really nice!! - I do not keep the plug in the front, never have on any of them. Right
about 2500-3000 it sounds like a beast!! This one actually sounds better than the Volant
I had on the 2011 v6 Taco. Power feels slightly better but I'm only 1 short drive into this
so I can only expect it to get better.

The only part that didn't appear to seal all the way was the rubber seal that seats into the
box itself from the tube. Does yours fit that way?

I figured that's why when I saw that engine bay. I'm strictly a road truck and have never
had an issue or have seen anything in there when I've cleaned em.

Yes, that's was I was referring to, I tightened up tube > filter and thought, that's not sealed
perfectly so maybe the force/vacuum does enough.

When I saw how big that intake hole to the fender was I almost thought about opening the hole
itself up a bit more, I'll most likely leave it be though.

Got the Afe installed last night... Wow. On the manual trans the hesitation "dead pedal" has been reduced. More grunt down low. Pulls harder at wot, love the sound. Sounds very similar to my friends 4.0 with a k&n intake. Only complaint is the rubber plug won't fit tightly (the plug for where the air scoop would go) it actually fell out during driving so I'm just going to leave it off or use an adhesive.

Are any of you guys with the AFE doing an engine oil analysis comparison?

So you have that dead feeling too? Ive Ben driving stick for years, and I thought maybe I'm just screwing up somehow... I'll give some gas, let clutch off and the truck will take off, then Rpms dive, trucks dogs, and then catches itself and takes off...

    Not smooth at all

Definitely had it worse at elevation, it's still there but it won't dive nearly as bad

Heres the thing, I have had 3 different AFE intakes on different vehicles, I knew getting into it what it would be like. And when I posted my first thoughts everyone wanted more opinions and doubted what I had to say. At the end of the day I was right. People on this site need to learn you have to Pay to Play.
