I am also not sold on the design. I could see water getting in every time I wash the truck at the car wash or drive in heavy rain. I love the idea of getting another place to draw air from but the water issue may make it to much of a pain to be worth it.

The air scoop should aim down from the front, or maybe put a drain for water at the elbow was my quick solution to that. However that would affect the airscoop all together possibly

Isn't that the job of these companies to figure all that out before they release a product to us consumers? WTF!

Hey guys please excuse my noobness but I just got my afe intake in this morning and I'm doing the install now but having trouble taking out the MAF sensor. Is there a trick to removing it or just simply pulling it out? Thanks

I have read every page of this discussion about the pros and cons of a cai. Why does't one of the guys that bought the new Tacoma Pro that has the TRD cai and cat back exhaust compare theirs with someone with the afe intake and one with the k & n and see if they can tell a difference?

I'm not seeing anything that indicates the Pro includes the TRD Pro CAI - looking like that is a future option for all vehicles. I'd be interested in seeing what comes of that.

I tried ordering the TRD intake and TRD cat back from my dealer, Dealer told me it was VIN specific for the Pros. I know the Tacoma Pros come with TRD exhaust.

In the pamphlet it doesn't show putting the cap on the front. And putting it on, it will shoot off unless it's taped on. Anybody leave it off?

Has anyone actually brought this to the attention of the people at AFE? Everyone posts the same issue here which is great but will accomplish nothing. Very curious to hear what AFE has to say.

That's a little upsetting from a company of their size and reputation. They're charging good money for these intakes, far more than their competition. They need to give people a reason to choose and stick with them.

That's what I'msaying! They also have a misprint in the directions, once you disconnect the mass air flow from the old one you don't have to disconnected again too connected to the new one before it is installed. You just install the other one rap the MAF underneath and screw it back in. The box also says with dynamic scoop and it is not in the box it is a separate option.

I installed my aFe intake today.
The MAF sensor cable/harness has a small plastic retention....just press on one side near the top to release. The actual sensor has two small Philips head screws you remove to remove the actual sensor.

I installed my aFe CAI today.
    First impressions.
Can't say if it made any difference acceleration wise.
Definitely roars if you stomp on the gas at any speed even to the point I could feel a little vibration of sorts in the steering wheel. It is rumbling loud!
Driving without strong acceleration at any speed, quiet as stock.....which is good.

How did you get that discount? What's the difference between the two filter options?
    Thanx

Yup, for one day I left my off because I didn't have time to seal it. Way too damn loud and annoying. Had all kinds of rattles in the cab with it of at WOT. Almost wanted to remove the whole thing until I sealed it up

I've emailed and called about the scoop, all I get is that it will be available "next week", then I give them 2 weeks, I call again, and the same "next week".

Any suggestions on the way to seal it on? I am thinking some extra wide electric tape. Black duck tape would work but I don't like the sticky residue if it is removed.
