Well mine went on today, took about 30 minutes or so. I honestly can't feel any difference at WOT but that way change as the computer learns the new intake. I do however feel a difference down low. When climbing a hill, I don't lose so much and have to down shift as far as I used to. It's only got maybe 8-10 miles on it since install so we'll see what happens. What's the best way you all have figured out to keep the plug in the front? I haven't installed mine yet since it's so damn loose and I don't want to lose it. BTW I opted for the dry filter incase anyone is curious.

I believe that a good majority of these positive seat of the pants improvements you always here from people here on the forum, and which are very rarely if ever backed up with valid dyno testing, are self induced to justify the money they spent on whatever it is that they just bought, and even after though they read tons of threads saying that the stuff they just bought and installed doesn't do squat, Human nature tends to make one want to really believe that that part they just installed really did them 18+ HP, for as to admit otherwise is just to hard to accept.

Until you've installed one, you can't comment. I'm sure some have unrealistic expectations however I know how my truck performed before and how it performs now. I have 33" tires on stock gearing which makes matters even worse and this intake has helped right away. I'll be taking a trip up to NY and back for Christmas, we'll see what it does for fuel economy if anything at all. With all this said, this is far from the first intake I've used. When installed on my 2005 Dodge Ram Hemi, I lost low end power, when installed on my 2006 Rubicon 4.0 it made a significant difference across the board. I guess it all comes down to how good the OEM intake is to begin with.

I wrapped it in place with gorilla tape, it's crazy how much the plug reduces noise.

I can hear it even just normal driving. I actually don't mind the sound but I know my wife doesn't love it lol. If I can quiet it down until I jump on it, that'd be better.

I will be receiving my AFE "flow enhancing" intake tomorrow. I wonder what the low end will feel like on the manual.

2016 Tacoma SR- At minimal throttle input, could you notice a difference? The manual already gets up to speed quickly with the 4.30 with little effort.

I have the AT and 33" tires on stock 3.90 gears as of now. The low end power under normal driving conditions did improve. There's a hill leading to my house that I would always lose speed while climbing unless I got on it some. With the intake, I climbed the hill without the need to downshift and I held my speed.

    Thank you for the input.

Once I get home, (if not too late) I will install and give update to driving changes.

It will more than likely be this weekend for an update... the brown truck service I drive is picking up a lot this time of year.

I got one for ya, before you install, let out first slow and normal then go wot throttle as soon as the clutch is released. My v6 manual use to cut power before the intake. Takes a couple trips before the truck adjusts for the intake but it dramatically changes the first gear studder

Nice, that sounds easy. That seems to be first gear anyway... Wot and you are at 15mph revving happily.

So... The intake was a put in this morning. I drove to work throttle is more controlled and smooth. Noise is not loud at all. I would consider it between mellow and snarl with the hole unplugged. I did notice the in power band, 2800-3000 for example, I could not feel the power surge. It felt more linear.

I will keep updated for future references and those who lurk.

Driving to work I get 16mpg per computer on average in 36-42degree weather.

After intake, two days later, I have been getting around 18mpg same temp and same shifting conditions.

I tend to do tank average for real results, but just for some thought as to how the computer is off by +/- 1 mpg.

Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
This could be in part to having warmer intake temps from the engine bay. In my 4.0 i disconnect the hose from the filter housing that goes to the fender and i almost maintain summer mileage. I have a thread documenting all my results in the performance section, but i monitored my intake temps via torque for androids, and even got a lil mathy in there. I basically concluded with my driving that i can save nearly 1 gallon per tank with temps that are about 25° warmer than ambient in the winter

The AFE intake pulls from the fender so temps are cooler. I may try leaving the plug out of the front for the winter and see what happens. I have a 275 mile drive up to NY on the 23rd. I plan to take that drive with the plug out and check my mileage on paper. I'll make the drive back with the plug in and see if anything changes either way. Fuely concluded removing the carbon filter yielded a
.1 MPG increase for what that's worth lol. I got a real shitty tank of gas though which only ran at about 12.5 MPG which was a killer. I normally sustain an average of about 16.7 but that bad tank killed my average.

Right, I have the hole unplugged in the front for warmer temps in winter. Sorry I forgot to add that. I left it off till I fix it from falling out.

I'm not sure exactly what i'm going to do to hold it in but I have a few ideas. When I eventually decide, i'll post up. What have others done?

Gorilla tape or some form of adherence. I will do the gorilla tape, but not sure about the heat and adhesive. I'm open for ideas.

I'm not ok with seeing ugly tape on the outside of the housing. I've got a few ideas that I'll post once perfected. I'm a perfectionist and will figure something out that looks like it belongs there.
