Cold Air intake

stock doesn't decrease airflow. the engine is only going to use so much air, the MAF tells it how much is coming in,
you cannot do anything for the motor by changing intake unless you remap the ECU also

the baffles and box shape is about resonance, not restricting air. it is shaped to make less noise. that is all. plenty of air is allowed to come in

all aftermarket intakes do is make more noise and they might harm performance in certain temp and humidity conditions,
and may also increase silicate uptake

 

I was wondering if any one has the Volant Cold Air Intake Pro 5 Enclosed Intake System with the Scoop and if so, how do you like it?

 

I installed a TRD intake and TRD cat back exhaust on my '10 TRD V6 Six speed. In stock configuration I could hold 65 MPH in 6th on Floyd Hill west of Denver. Floyd Hill is a 7% grade rising to 7820' in elevation. After the mods I was over 70 and climbing when I caught up to traffic. Highway mileage improved from 21 to 22. I love the exhaust note and induction noise. This was my experience, yours may vary.

 

I have the k&n, but I really wish I got this one. Seems like the closed in box would help with the "warm air intake" but still offer sound. The scope would give even more cold air

 

I noticed better throttle response, as well as 1ish mpg gains. I have a k&n intake and mbrp exhaust. My truck sounds great imo. Paired with a 6 speed.
