Hey guys I wanted to know if the truck benefits in terms of HP and air flow if I change the entire air intake or if the stock airbox is good and you might just need a filter upgrade. The photo attached is what I'm thinking of replacing my stock air of with. Thanks!

315$ that's retarded. You can make one for less the 100.

Its not a turbo or v8 engine. there are no benefits of CAI with AFR changes. Stick with just aftermarket drop in air filter instead if you really want to make any mods. It will save you $$

Truck already has CAI. Why would I want the intake in the engine compartment when it is designed to take ar from outside the engine compartment already?

Isn't the intake in the wheel well?

There is probably little to no benefit, it may even be worse as the filter media allows more air to pass through (and potentially more particulate). However, with that said, I have had one on my IS300 for 200k+ miles, and will definitely be getting one for my Tacoma when the market gets more saturated. I love intake noise and don't care if I lose a few hp even...you cannot tell a difference on the butt dyno with +/-3hp. shrug_d9522f35eaca84c4ea2a46f1d684b2bc671972b8.gif

I am sure someone will dyno the truck with an intake at some point as well. If you really wonder then wait. Or get it, dyno it, and let us all know!:D:thumbsup:

Yeah, what they said. Cold air intakes are more about taking your money and replacing it with noise.

I really don't get how they can call that a CAI. Its taking hot air from around your engine.

The factory intake gets its air from outside the engine compartment.

Redbusket just dyno'd one, it's mostly a push but looks like he got 15 or so hp at 5700 rpm

...and how often are you at 5700 rpm? Pretty useless rpm range.

The 13 ran about there flat out when towing a pontoon boat "up the mountain". Pinging the whole time on anything but 93 (learned my lesson... Regardless of popular opinion here).

The 16 runs 4 to 4.5k UNLOADED up the same pull. Maybe I should give up on low end and boost the upper rpm range...

That intake will not fit the 2016 3.5L. The throttle body doesn't face that way. There are no intakes out for the 3.5L yet. Only drop in replacements. I'm waiting for AFE to come out with a cold air intake for the 2016.

    I have a replacement k&n. It didn't do shit.

It's a complete wast of money if you need to buy it. I got mine for free so I didn't care.

was it the kind for oiling?I had a k&n in my xa for over 170,000 miles proably didn't do much for HP gain, but I never had to buy another filter.I t got rid of that for my dclb sporttaco.
I'd do another just like it ,it would pay for itself in 2-3 filter changes, you just need to make sure you let the oil dry before putting back in !!
