Cold Air Intake????

    Not even, throw on a spectre open air filter and some tubing bypassing the maf and your in F1 areas of performance. oh and taking off the catback also improves power dramatically too, noise = power... :burnrubber:

    what if you removed either the primary filter or secondary filter as has been suggested...its like sucking air thru a straw or newspaper

    shit should read 22 MPG.....good one..I can get 70MPH on a stock filter as well:):):)

    These are valid questions. However, Toyota Tacomas were never intended to be hot rods. For Tacomas and 99% of vehicles manufactured, it's about finding the optimum balance of power, gas mileage, optimal driveability and reliability, with minimal harshness, vibrations, and noise. Just because an auto manufacturer can increase power by 5 - 10 for an extra $100 in production costs, it doesn't mean that it's the most sensible choice if it comes at the expense of increased noise and vibration. The vast majority of customers would prefer a quieter and smoother operating vehicle to an extra 5 hp. For the niche crowd that prefer the latter, that's why TRD products exist.

    Can someone explain other than it not gaining anything such as power of mpg's what the charcoal element is? would it hurt anything to remove it?

    Im not looking for whether its there for a reason or not just what exactly it does or whether it can hurt anything to remove it..also does it just pull out or do you have to cut/break anything?

    not trying to hijack just had this one question

    I have the K&N aircharger intake, I like it but I've only noticed smoother throttle control!
