Really?? Never any issues in years running them in Jeeps, with lots of off-roading. Tacos sensitive to these filters?

Meh, i tested 1 for intake temp values and my tb was clean before.. nasty afterwards.

Maf is gunna get hit before the tb.

Besides, k&n always used to say "dont clean our filters too often as the buildup of dirt on the outside helps filter the air"..

Just build a damn filter that filters from day 1.

I suppose the blower may have pulled in more oil than an na engine would have?

Oh I’ve been on there, I’ve seen the oil testing done. But simply stating oil is oil is wrong. There are different compounds and additives mixed and added to help control different things, and each oil manufacturer has their own recipe to do so.

Me too, hopefully someone else will join in with me. If not, and I do show gains, at least we will know the CAI works in conjunction with the tune to add more power. Anyone down to turn this into a mini Tacoma meet? lol

    To the OP
Make a youtube video with affiliate links to all products. Ask the shop to give a discount for an Youtube Advertisement.

Youtube pays $1-$4 for every 100 views. The more advertiser friendly your video is (mention toyota, K&N and other companies), the more money you get from your views.

10,000 views = $100 - $400 dollars potentially, which would could go a long way towards covering your cost.

Further, you can get affiliate commissions from any Amazon links in your video -- meaning anyone who buys a K&N filter using your link will get paid.

Stay away from the typical message board negativity. Get paid.

Installing a K&N CAI does in fact screw with your MAF Sensor and your truck will not perform well. Reason: Your ECU is pre-programmed with the stock filter (intake). The A/F ratio will change once a K&N CAI is installed and your ECU doesn't know how to handle it. Spent $200 or so on new spark plugs, tuneup and performance analysis of my Tacoma. Result: I would have to spend way too much $$$ to re-program my truck to calculate the new A/F ratio. DO NOT install a K&N CAI in your Tacoma.

you can get the same result just buying a drop in AFE dry flow filter and it would not ruin the MAF and u wouldn't have to replace the complete perfectly engineered intake tube that came from the factory designed by engineers for the engine.

he said he is doing an oil analysis on his oil at 12,500k miles OCI on the SUPERTECH oil im assuming that alls well with it or he wouldn't be running that many miles OCIs.i use SUPERTECH for many years or whatever oil is on sale/rebate/best deal never had any oil related engine issues whatso ever,if your not doing a UOA just stick with the manufactors rec'd OCI

Doesnt this equate to elevation changes and temp changes too?

At same rpm, in diff altitudes and diff weather, the ecu would have to adjust....which it does to correct afr back to 14.7

An EFI will make fuel/air mix adjustments to compensate for elevation. If your truck can't pull in enough air during a climb, it will adjust fuel trim so your truck won't run rich.

EFI systems have been developed to have optimum altitude compensation. Ambient air pressure is continually monitored and the ECU continuously calculates the ideal air/fuel ratio for that altitude while also optimizing the air/fuel ratio for the other variables (temperature, throttle position etc.). It is difficult to achieve altitude compensation with carbureted engines, particularly where operation at varying altitude is required. Invariably a compromise carburetor setting is required, meaning that at least part of the time the air/fuel mixture is not optimal, resulting in excessive fuel consumption when the mixture is over-rich in fuel and potential damage to the engine when the mixture is over-lean.

Edit: Harry a little too edgy

Trust me i watch my wideband closer than i watch any other gauge in my truck... its always bouncing around a few points to establish proper afr.
