These were the adapters. My hub was too big. Pretty pissed off right now I wasted all this time.... calling around seeing if any other shops can do it.

    That sucks Brian !!

Try giving this place a call , they're in Mira Loma Calif and a very known dyno facility . This shop has dyno'd my Drag Race car and they also have quite a few YouTube vids

Talk to Steve Brul'e , he's the dyno room guru !!

I just called, they are not open on weekends.... this might be very hard for me. I am buying a house in a couple months so I cant take any time off work right now, especially to spend money on a dyno lol. I need a weeeknd shop or else I may not be able to get this done.

You don't need a dyno run, you just have to understand how the engine works to know. Here is what he will see:
He will see the curve from both runs (with and without) be identical up until a certain point. Then, he will see a very slight increase (maybe 5-10 hp) on the one with his new filter. That is it. The point he will see the increase is when he goes to wide open throttle. Any other condition will be the same as the old filter. Why? Because the engine control module, the computer that controls your engine, is constantly adjusting the fuel/air mixture. If all of a sudden it sees more air, it will adjust the throttle body to restrict air flow to proper levels, no matter what the filter is doing. This will happen to wide open throttle condition, as in this condition the throttle body will let in as much air as possible. You can't fool the MAF sensor!

In addition, the dyno runs have an error of plus minus several percent between runs. The expected gains from the new filter are gonna be just a few percent, and only at a certain condition when the pedal is mashed to the floor. Combined with the fact of repeatability of the dyno, means you truly won't know any more after the run as you did before it.

Suffice to say, if you put your foot on the floor, you will get a few more HP with the new filter. Any other time, you will get exactly the same as with your current filter.

Pretty sure that if any gains could be had with something as simple as a filter, Toyota would be doing it for stock units.

So, I assume as long as people see any slight gain in power, the intake or filter essentially did its job. To some, that would be worth the money. Thanks for the info.

next time somebody wants to prove a point that has already been established please send me the money , cause the end result will be a 5-10HP gain only at full WOT . but anyway whats the OPs plans now? is he still gonna Dyno?

Yes, but loosely applying the 1st law of Thermodynamics here, "Nothing in Life is Free" lol.
In order to get that extra airflow, that means
There has to be either a) a bigger opening to draw air or b) a less dense filter media.

Since the opening is the same, that means, if we are drawing more air, that the filter is less dense. What this means is the aftermarket filter will not filter the intake air as well as the stock filter.
Now, this aftermarket might filter "good enough" to keep dirt out. But, it might not, as evidenced recently by a guy who now needs to replace his engine. Why? Because Toyota would not warrant his engine because he was running an aftermarket intake and he got dust in his engine.

Again, nothing is free. So your choice. Get a few more hp at wide open throttle and not get as good of filtration as OEM? I will stick with OEM.

On a Stock Tacoma If it makes any extra or loses a few it will be within the margin of error, nothing you feel either way.
