18whp?! i didn't even see gains like that with a cai AND tune on my evo. you would be lucky to get 2whp bolting a cai onto a n/a vehicle

The question in my mind isn't whether an intake can/will provide increased flow (I'm sure it does), but whether the ECU will adjust the engine parameters accordingly to keep the output within spec. In my mind, without a change to the tuning, the ECU is going to adjust "downward" for the additional air flow. That's how modern ECU controlled engines work. . .

Asks for a debate and civility, but doesn't respond directly to points and posts memes basically calling us stupid.

What does a poorly carried out experiment video about a honda have to do with a Toyota Tacoma?

OP is either a troll, or so insecure in his purchases/mods he feels the need to seek others approval for validation. Either way

I'll put in my 2 cents (like I always do on these CAI threads). Being able to move air in and out at WOT definitely improves with a CAI and exhaust. However, I'm not gonna say that the bolt ons do anything down low. If anything, I may have even lost some torque. I mainly did these mods for sound and for fun. Y-pipe next bitches!

Every once and awhile I get this wild hair about A Cold Air Intake. I know Gen 3’s have one. I just feel there is something more. I was surfing Tacoma World and found this.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/sound-clip-urd-ypipe-and-trd-catback.502356/

Instead of spending $450 on the TRD CAI, replace the parts that turn the factory CAI into a TRD CAI. I already got the TRD filter last October. So I bought the Intake Flow Accelerator ($25 from ToyotaPartsDeal.com). The intake is much bigger and not blocked by the mud deflector

If you didn't see 18whp gain at all in your power band from a tune on the Evo, than making more power wasn't the focus of that tune.

Yeah sort of. There is always a calculated range above or below target that's expectable, and if you can reach that load target more efficiently, and you will see gains.

I'm setting up a Dyno run with a local shop in Huntington Beach. If anyone on here has a Stock Tacoma that wants to join in please let me know. I have the OVtune and I know some will claim it has more to do with my tune and less with the intake. I am going to make a detailed YouTube video as well.

Its not their word against yours. Its a Dyno sheet vs word of mouth. Pretty sure there is a significant different between a verbal claim and actual data from a Dyno.

Not trying to dog on you, bro.... but if that is the case. Your CAI/tuner was a fail.

And n/a vehicles can certainly make over 2whp with only an intake. It will depend on the car and intake, of course.

Im not sure you understand that even “data” from dynos can vary greatly.

Dynos are to be taken with a grain of salt as well.

Doesn't bother me at all haha. Its fun for me. I view this as a fun and educational challenge. If I am wrong , I will have no problem admitting I was full of shit and spreading fake news.
