Remember, it's not an oil change it's an oil extraction

correct, the first three were extractions, and the fourth was a change, although there was no difference in the amount of fluid that came out. Believe it or not, you can suck that pan dry through the dipstick and add a little extra fresh fluid in there suck a bit more out and she’s clean as a whistle. 12 quarts of M1 euro is only 60 bucks, I got to put it to good use!

    What fluid? You mean oil?

Why wouldn't it be clean in there? It's a brand new truck.

If you are worried about particles you should be changing the filter constantly. Sucking out oil and putting fresh oil in to feel better is absolutely a placebo effect

Honestly i'm super confused about what you're worried about that is driving all this.

I kind of feel sorry for your truck

Time for the ignore function, good luck! So many disgruntled people in this forum. Life is too short to engage in useless conversation, I suggest you ignore me as well, those of you who wish to. If not, I enjoy thoughtful and respectful conversation. It will make our time more enjoyable.

Is there anything that doesn't last 15 times longer with a ceramic coating?
I'm having my entire truck ceramic dipped next week. Shop says I can expect a million miles out of everything from my driver's seat to the front brake pads.
How in the hell did our vehicles ever survive before this modern miracle?

I was not a believer in ceramic paint coating being that great vs wax until I did it myself. Of course the prep process is essential but I get 2+ years out of the one I used. I don’t believe in snake oils or any miracle products but I do believe in advancing technology. As far as a million miles, I don’t know about that. 2-4 years seems to be the average on the paint.

Have you actually done anything with your truck to warrant all this oil changing/extracting?

In my book this is one of THE winning posts of this long-winded Yet Another Oil Thread because it quotes the factory specs, which directly state that more than one viscosity grade of oil is acceptable for regular use in that particular engine.

Wondering what manual that chart came from… I have a 22 and friend has a 23…that chart with the two oil viscosities listed on it doesn’t exist in his manual nor mine. Both simply state 0w20 as recommended but a higher viscosity can be used.

Hmm, on further research, this is what I found on page 546 of the 2023 Taco user manual. (See below.)
Says there 0W-20 is recommended, 5W-20 may be used, but "..must be replaced with 0W-20 at the next oil change."

Where did your screenshot claiming up to 15W-40 is acceptable come from?

Because of CAFE regulations the oil chart is removed from the US manual. It is in other manuals. As per the service manual, 0w-20 through 15w-40 is acceptable. This means any weight in between these. 5w, 10w, 15w, 20, 30, 40.

This is also a great article that explains why this is happening.

    Engine noise be damned.
If it’s 29 degrees, imma crank that tank up and get me some heat ASAP.

You folks can argue over oil type in the cold. I’m going to sit in my warm truck and watch:thumbsup:

I'm confused! Is this a stupid oil thread, a worthless additive thread, or both?

It's not cold unless you hear the power steering pump screaming.

    Wasting your time my man.
Those that don’t want to know, never will.

When giving advice on oil, on TW.
My advice is, “it best to use the oily type”
