That’s how any oil related thread works on TW. I don’t even try anymore.
Hang around here long enough, you won’t either.

    Just to keep it going,

I've used ceratec before and think it does something. A mazda 6 I had would glide and barely having any engine braking when I added it to the oil. But in my ranger it made two oil pressure switches stick until they warmed up.

However i've never used it in this truck.

Foreign market owners manuals like Australia, Mexico state various viscosities from 0w-20 to 15w-40 depending on temperature.

I use 5w/0w-30 because the engine is quieter when warm. I tried 40w once in the summer and didn't like it. The engine always felt laboured.

Op you have some...interesting oil change habits. You should look into like a Fram ultra endurance something like that filter and use High Performance Lubricants oil

Waste of money, $39.99.? Using an oil weight not recommended for any engine is a path to disaster. Hey do what you want but I think some people are too anal on oil. ‍

Just to bring up the past...

Teflon requires over 800 degrees F for it to stick to metal. If your oil ever experienced that temp it would ignite (flashover temp for synthetics is usually around 400 dgrees F), thus "Slick 50" and it's Teflon coating was bogus as hell.

Another product from the old days was "ProLong". This one was advertised using a spinning shaft being braked with a lever and that lever was a dial indicating torque wrench. It was clever and indisputable. The shaft could be stopped at fairly low torque with normal engine oil as the lube, but when ProLong was added the shaft kept spinning (braking action was nil) even at very high torque. What the company didn't tell you was that at normal engine operating temperatures, that product would produce chlorine - which literally ate bearing material.

Much research should be done with every product.

Nice. You can sit in the house and watch these guys argue over oil. I still have to make a trip out into the cold to crank my truck up.
