I have an 03 PreRunner 3.4L V6 with an automatic transmission. When the truck is cold it won't shift into 3rd until about 35mph. When the truck warms up it shifts fine. This is pretty annoying around town...

    Has anyone had this problem?

Any ideas how to fix it?

    Thanks for the help,
    Curt :)

Sounds normal. Most automatic transmissions have different characteristics when they are cold vs. when they are at normal operating temperature.

This is normal on the first gens, they wot shift until you are going either fast as youdo, or until it has warmed up. It stays in the lower gear for higher RPMs to warm everything up quicker. Use the search bar and you'll find a couple threads about the same thing.

I think its been discussed quite a bit on this forum. I remember reading something about 2nd gear shifts at 2600 rpm when its cold.
