Sorry, “high flow” air filter will not help anything except make better noise.

    I have averaged 15.8 in a stock 2021 Sport M/T. If it’s warm out? 16-17mpg with the tires at 40lbs. 15-16 mpg @35lbs.
Anything on a 2 lane rd and I’ll get 25mpg(under 50mph.). If I’m on the Highway? lucky to get 15 mpg but I don’t drive slow!

Again mine is 100% stock but added a Trifold soft Tonneau cover.

Rust was the downfall of mine too. I locked my keys in the car once, we just opened the bottom of the door like a piece of mail and pulled on the lock rod to open it.

Do us all a favor. Run an experiment with different filters and post the results. There's a reason it's been said. I've personally travelled to Maine, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, and some other states, each on individual trips with different setups for this exact reason. It's not a lie. A poor reply to a helpful response post with no backing argument is a piss poor response for OPs question.

Post your findings when you're done. Dyno and tune results will only get OP so far, because I can guarantee you're the one who's wrong.

Don't want to? Just use your Google Fu degree. It will help you out.

    Ha.

There is a dyno run with no air filter at all floating around here somewhere. There was absolutely zero performance gains.

    I’ll try to find it.

    HA!
I got a cheap decent passenger door from a wrecker, as the outer skin of the original was almost completely flappy from the windows on down lol!
Other than that, I converted the choke to manual, had a heater core blow up in the winter (yay), and did some brake/ball joint work.. oh and replaced the gas tank (it was rotted bad).

    Fun times, cheap ride.

Mpgs have been shitty lately. But in NE Ohio winter, i think they put more piss than actual gasoline into the tanks.

There it is, read the first post. No performance gains with no air filter at all.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-dyno-test.539231/

In older cars yes, performance intakes could make a difference. In modern vehicles, it’s just noise.

Here in WYO, speed limit on interstates is 80, so naturally you go 85. What is this 20-22 MPG I hear people speak of...?

No shit? 80? Its 70 in some places around here. And half the people in Ohio going 80 shouldnt have a license.

My road trip to Portland will be interesting. If you get behing a white Tacoma going 65, dont run me off the road, just honk and wave as you fly by me.

i think you can also use xscan D8 to load ecu files. and you can also use it for other things.

I just completed an 800 mile round trip in the cold temps, near 0*F or less. Pushing through head winds and cross winds will eat the fuel. I had the cruise set at 70 mph. I was consuming 1 gallon every 17 miles, 17 mpg...... averaged over the 800 miles. Warm weather driving, I average 20 mpg.

    Your situation sounds normal.

BTW, the truck does not experience wind chill. Although, it does experience pushing or crabbing sideways through the wind.

They added a new highway down here a few years ago, it's probably 16 miles from beginning to end and has a 70 limit. I usually set my cruise on 72 and sometimes people pass me like l am in reverse!

On and Off Ramps are a big problem, seems like most of my close calls revolve around them.

You are right. Mostly. It just doesn't have to be living/breathing, it affects anything trying to hold onto heat.
When you blow on a hot cup of coffee, that's wind chill. When you drive up and park your truck outside, the cold wind blowing across it takes the engine/exhaust heat away faster than it would normally cool down, that's wind chill. Once the heat is gone, then there is no wind chill.
A cold-blooded fish is living, but without heat to be taken away from it, wind chill has no effect. (Yeah, not breathing; and won't last long where ever there is wind ...since that would be out of the water.)

I agree that one should always move to allow another to merge safely.
But only if moving over is safe and without hitting the brakes excessively. The onus is on the one attempting to merge to do so safely and in harmony with existing traffic flow. It's not a god-given right to enter into a fast moving traffic lane just because you want to.

But hell yes there are far too many who could move over / allow an entry - and don't! They're Assholes.

OP, 15F is nothing. It’s been much colder here and I don’t notice any appreciable difference in performance. It’s there but subtle. Are you sure you weren’t driving into a headwind or had under-inflated ties?

It's funny because if you drive 80, you'll get passed by at least 75% of the traffic. You can set you cruise at 85 and HP won't give you a second look. Keep in mind it's far from bumper to bumper around here. But a little unnerving when you have to do 85 in order to get around the truckers doing 80+...
