Another 3rd gen w/ a stiff/slow to release clutch when cold. It's been that way since new and happens anytime it's less than 40f ambient overnight. Dealer wasn't able to reproduce, but it sounds like it's pretty normal for these trucks.

I'll also echo that I haven't noticed a stiff clutch in any of my other vehicles I've owned (at least 30) except for much colder temps (i.e. less than 20f). All of those were older with significantly higher mileage, including 4 toyotas (two 3rd gen 4 runners, a 90' pickup, and an '83 cressida). It isn't a safety issue and clears up pretty quickly once under way, but it is a bit annoying.

There's lots of little things about this truck that remind me they put as little R&D money into the 3rd gen as they could, which is a shame. On the plus side, it's got a manual, which is why I bought it. That brings just enough charm that I'm (mostly) able to overlook the other shortcomings.

I usually pump the clutch ten times or so right when I start the truck. Loosens up pretty quickly. Have never had any issue engaging the clutch in situations when I need it.
