I've noticed this fall that my truck (02 DC v6 245K) accelerates a lot faster when getting on the highway when the air temp is around 50 degrees. Has anyone else experienced a similar outcome?

If not, what does this say about my truck? Is there something that I need to look into?

Your truck is fine. The cooler air is denser in o2 which means your fuel/air charge is more efficient and effective.

no, o2 sensors, plugs, and cleanings WILL not affect the laws of physics.

This is why “CAI” units are crap unless the draw from the outside either front of vehicle, outside the fenders (or inside if you can make it fit) or above the hood.

in simple terms. In cooler temps you may also see an increase in fuel miles.

I've read stories about drag racers having to make last minute tune changes due to a sudden drop in air temp. Cold crisp air carries more oxygen.

that could depend on elevation too?

Elevation does have something to do with it also, higher you go the thinner the air.

planes are usually calculated for max power/ speed at sea level or slightly above for the same reason, denser air creates more drag, but also provides more power via a more complete burn. Elevation can also cause other issues, like overheating, needing higher octane than normal to combat knocking or pinging, tyre pressure psi and temp changes...drastic changes...

This is also why you can never duplicate dyno runs even on the same day.
