Colinb17's kinda sorta build thread - now with 4-link and long travel

i think they rebounded too much actually. for fast off roading that is. they tend to buck the rear end off the ground with the way they bounce.

 

You mean the timberons?

 

yeah. they are great bumps in the sense that they compress nicely and keep you from crushing your spine on hard hits, but they like to shoot you back up in the air afterwards.

oh, gotcha. well i'll get to test them out next weekend. they're for sure getting a workout right now though. i was about 1/4'' from sitting on them fully loaded down today, so i hit them with every bump.
i'm due for new springs though....unhooked the boat so i could head out for some dinner this evening, and my rake is now gone

yeah, we've made some pretty long trips on this boat before, but nothing like this. couple years ago we covered a good 210 miles in one day plus some fooling around with the wakeboards, be he has it mapped out to do multiple 180+ mile days back to back.

 

think i'm gonna make a quick release fire extinguisher mount tomorrow that'll go on the bed rack. getting tired of it rolling around in my back seat

 

fire extinguisher mount done. doesn't move around at all while driving and is real easy to use. just pull the pin, tilt it back and lift it up. hopefully i just never have to use it.

for everyone with D and E range tires, what kind of air pressure do you like to run? i got it real dialed in with my old tires (P rated 265s, now i'm on D rated 295s) and knew exactly what pressure to use for each terrain, but i'm back at square one with these D range tires. i used to run 5-10 psi in the snow or on soft sanded beaches, 10-15 psi on rocks and 15-18 for go fast with the old ones.

thinking 15 for down here with the stiffer tires??? it'd be for 50% go fast, 50% crawl/articulation. hard pack, sand and slick clay. no rocks down here.

thanks john! i did got all of oyur texts this weekend, but i just got back about a half hour ago from a wheeling trip, so sorry if any of the responses seemed rushed.

i ran 18 over the weekend which seemed to work well, but i think i will drop it down to the 12-15 range for rocks. i'm not used to tires that have little to no bulge at 18 psi lol.

 

Are those brackets from the steel I left for you? Looks like 1/4 inch.

 

ah, no it's just 1/8 for the upper parts witht he holes in it, and somwwhere between that and 1/4'' for for the bottom mounts.
