Yea so far it's gonna go across the bed over the rails mounted to an over the bed rack that cbi is still making for me. I measured it up and if I mount the top piece at a lower position it should be fine.

 

Wow, just read through all 5 pages of fun in that thread. I am now the one feeling like I don't know shit. It's one thing for me to repair our vehicles, diag problems, and rebuild an engine or something. But you guys are a plethora of knowledge that I couldn't even compare to.

My ARB snatch block was delivered today, but i went right from work to the airport. Guess Christmas will have to wait 3 more days

 

I forgot to ask....where did you get the 1/4" gussets for the hitch? Are they 2"x2" ?

 

Ballistic fab and ruff stuff specialties are two great places to go to for parts like that. i've ordered a number of times from each before.

Wouldn't 4" be to long the hitch is like 2?

 

there is more than one way to use a gusset. i have 4 of those on my hitch.

the rear two are angled, partially for strength in the direction i wanted, but also to clear the hitch pin hole



the front two, i simply slid up, giving the gussetts an overlap on the main bumper tube. they are welded front and back, so on the 2'' hitch tube, there are just 2 90 degree tee welds. on the front two that i slid upwards, the rear has a standard tee welld, but the front uses what is closer to a fillet weld.



you can see how the top of the front gussetts go a little bit above the hitch tube. there is still metal on metal contact though, allowing for a completely welded gusset.
