sweet baby jesus talk about tall

got 32'' terra grapplers on the trailer now, with a set of 33'' guard dogs sitting inside it, waiting to go on when i have time to swing by a shop. with the diff on the tacoma, the trailer has better azle clearance with the 32s than i have with 35s. the outer link brackes are also guarded by the tires pretty well. don't think those have ever drug on anything.

    axle clearance with 32s

Yeah, I figured yours probably have pretty good clearance after I saw that axle:cool:

Yeah that trailer is way too tall... and doesn't look like it has any room for up travel so I wonder how the droop is.

the damn thing didn't weigh over 1000 lbs when i first build the axle

but building a new axle wouldn't be too expensive. on top of the parts you listed, all i need is a new tube, new spindles (with brake brackets), and some misc. tabs for the links.

I think I already have the steel for the tube, the little tabs are like $.50 a piece from ruff stuff or balistic fab, and i have a nice relationship with a trailer shop in florida, that can probably get me the new spindles for about $60 shipped. so that only puts me in the hole $70 plus time, compared to if i already had the tabbed spindles.

about 5 inches of compression once loaded with the average gear for a wheeling trip. maybe 6-7 inches of compression when empty.

as for the drop, right now, the shocks limit drop to about somewhere in the 10 inch to 1 foot range from ride height. it'll be a different story when coilovers come around though......

I didn't mean yours. I've seen your pics of wheeling with the trailer:p I meant the one in the for sale thread.

a lot of the land rover guys i wheel with have rover axles on their trailers. the take the axle and tub, and just build a new frame to fit it. that way all the have to do is weld on a couple tabs, and they already have the links/springs/shocks in place. they shave the diffs too. makes for a string/easy/and high clearance axle, already sit up with brakes and the right bolt pattern. bolt pattern is the big win for them, because they use some silly pattern that aparantly only them and a handfull of BMWs use. so not realyl any options for a standard trailer hub

ah, gotcha. yeah, i feel like people really neglect the suspension component when they build these offroad trailers. Jason being the exception.
