if you are gonna do heims in the future you would have to build new UCAs, as Heim'd UCAs require a second bend

I'll probably use two bends regardless.

Hey Colin what are your plans for the rear? I'm trying to figure out what to do on my truck

It's going to be a two stage process. first step is to build a bed cage and provision the axle to run some 16'' shocks (thinking king double bypasses at the moment) mounted inside the leaf pack.

second step is the lears. right now, my top choice is to run the Defined Engineering sprung under kit. it uses the stock spring hangers, so you don't loose a ton of clearance like you would be running a longer pack that has to have the front mount further forward. it also runs a longer shackle to yeild the extra travel and not have you sitting at 5 inches of lift.

that's ideally what i'll have going on not too far down the road. of course there will be limit straps and little ods and ends ascosiated with LT thrown in there, maybe even air bumps, but i haven't gotten quite that far, and will have to actually build it before i can tess what strap/bump combo i need.

Defined offers the spring pack for that kit in a standard a heavy duty version. i'll get the HD pack of course. I may even talk to them about building even more into it depending on what they say about my rear weight.

That is exactly one of my current options. Just concerned about rock crawling and the potential clearance issues of the suspension components.

it's not the sprung under that's the issue so much as that long travel packs are generally softer than a regular pack to make use of the available travel.

I was concerned about the same thing. I talked in length to krish (rcfreak) since he jsut got the kit. I'll try to dig up our exchange of photos showing the change of spring angle. the springs themselves are pretty much at the same level as the stock shock mounts as far as under the axle clearance goes. I knew that much going into it, but where i was concerned was the portion in front of the tire, going to the front mount. based on the pictures he sent me, i was pleasantly surprised with how little of the spring wasexposed. I figure it i run into issues, i'll just build an articulating skid plate that i can bolt on to guard the springs on the rock trips.

i actually just saw that in your thread and replied with a picture i found form about a month ago.

in all reality, i'm more concerned about damaging the springs in that situation, and not so much getting stuck. "it's quicker to winch than wrench" <<<<and cheaper

originally from Virginia, and there are a ton of trails up there. santos is great in fl (ocala area), and if you're ever in melbourne, we have a great trail filled with dirt jumps and sizable boardwalk drops.

Sweet. Santos is pretty fun. I stick mainly to cross-country riding these days instead of the free-riding/dirt-jumping stuff. I get real wobbly when my wheels leave the ground and I don't seem to heal as fast as I used to plus I ride a carbon 29er hardtail now instead of a full-suspension 26.

I'm at Carter Rd, Alafia, and Boyette all the time if you ever want to link up for a ride.

unloading some overdue pictures from my last two wheeling trips. florida tacomas had a nice meet in january at Citrus Wildlife Management Area. we then after wheeling there, we took three trucks to a much smaller, but more challenging spot called Area 51. then the first weekend in May, we had a large group in Ocala National forest, and afterwards, 4 trucks went to another spot near area 51, called Studio 54.
