Aerial shot of the group from a DJI Phantom. Not my phantom. There were a few people there with them.

 

That is really cool. We need to find a time to get with you, and the S7. Your ideas would make for really impressive footage.

Also, have your parts come in yet?

 

Still rebuilding the phantom, but as soon as it's done, i'm game to spend some time on a weekend shooting the S7!

No call about the parts yet gonna give them a call tomorrow. they said 5-10 days lead time on the farthest out parts. I ordered them last Monday, meaning if they hold to their timeline, I should have them before next weekend.

 

Haha, they caught the uhaul in this shot. The guy had to rent the uhaul and the trailer after he blew up the steering rack and his rear end on the 2nd run of the first day.

Different than what I noticed when we were working on the brakes?

 

couldn't tell ya. i do get condensation right there from the exhaust, so it could have been either or......or both lol. nice little 3'' diameter puddle of red under it this morning though

 

Bummer! Both of us might need to reseal our rear diffs.

I noticed a little color around the diff bolts where the traction bar attaches. Going to have to pay attention to that area.

Plenty of good containers to be able to reuse the good stuff in there. How many miles does you truck have? Rather, how many off-road miles? Might just mean it was time to re-sea anyway, and your last trip probably gave it the extra nudge.

 

yeah, it may just be time. truck has about 80k on it. i doubt it has much more than about 3000 off road miles on it, but some of the harder places i've been, 4 miles in a day is good progress. so it's been 3000 (ish) pretty rough miles.

Edit: just did the math, and 3000 is a pretty acurate number. basted on the number of trips per year i make and where i've lived throughout the life of the truck, i've got a littler over 2k in high speed and light crawling, and just under 1k in what i'd consider harder crawling. maybe 100 miles of that 1k is the 4 miles/day kind of stuff.

 

Pretty interesting once you put the math to it.

 

yeah, i've never broken it down like that before. interesting for sure. i should start logging/keeping track of my wheeling miles. pretty happy that i've made it this far without any major failures (knock on wood). we've had our fair share of trucks leave wheeling meets on flatbeds, so i'll take a blown drum brake and a leaky diff

 

Anyone have a set of all pro standards or other similar leaf pack sitting around. I've come to the realization that my current leafs aren't going to make it until long travel time. it's either some new leafs, hydro bumps, or both to bandaid the issue until LT time (which may be a 3 linked coilover setup)

 

I did notice that the back end was sagging a bit when you left the food truck park today.

 

And that was having already unloaded the 3 bundles of firewood and driveshaft that were sitting in the bed until yesterday. i have some heavy stuff in the back seat, but no more than about 250 lbs probably. leafs straight at ride height.

last 3 wheeling trips have killed them a little bit more each time.
