I've hit that trail at least 4-5 times since. Fortunately it hasn't claimed another flare. :D

The new HID's just showed up. Damn, I'm going to have to make some room for these. They make my Hella 700's seem small.

Sub'd! Love the build!!!:D How's the Icon setup treating you? I'm thinking about going with their Stage 4 suspension and am trying to get a feel on their quality.

They're badass lights. taken out of the reflector, they put off no more light than any other 35w HID, but you're going to be in love when you see what an HID will do in a purpose built housing, where the bulb sits in the proper position relative to the reflector bowl.

    Thanks Ryan :)

I have nothing but good things to say about the icons. I don't know what exactly comes in the stage 4 kit, but what I can say, is definitely get the extended travel coilovers and upper control arms that can handle the extra travel. essentially anything aftermarket will do.

I've had it on my truck for 4 years, and it was on a street only truck for about 6 months before that. original owner put the suspension on his truck, and before he got to off road, traded the truck for a tundra.
so almost 5 years later, it's held up fantastic, and taken many many beatings. the coils could use an upgrade at this point, due to all of the extra weight they've been supporting for so long, but that's been the only part to wear out. all seals are still good, with no oil or nitrogen leaks.
having ridden in trucks with king, fox, walker evans, camburg, and icon suspension, I would still buy the icon stuff again. valving is top of the line, right out of the box. do take off your sway bar though.

Thanks for the review, definitely helps to get a first handed opinion!!! This is the kit, and it should be added this winter. And whats the reasoning for taking off the sway bar?

The removal of the swaybar lets your suspension cycle properly. With the heavier springs that you will get with your new kit you will not have to worry about on road driving issues.

With lots of help from Nathan yesterday, the auxilary fuel tank instal was completed. tested it out last night with 5 gallons, and it works well. i'll have to do a full fill on it and time it to see how long it takes to transfer and entire 16 gallons.

Had to make an emergency trip to the hardware store so a new tee could be built. inlet size was correct, but the thwo ends that fit the existing filler tube were too large. on on top is the new one.

Rubber portion of the filler was cut and trimmed to fit.the new tee

After spending 12+ hours tinkering with the tank and the other projects of the day you still stopped on the way home to climb into the bed and put gas in the tank? That's some dedication to the project!

Looking forward to a full dump time report. :D

I can fully vouch for the fact that the Icons are SMOOTH compared to the ride in my truck. I was a little scared to hit that break in the road in KC. Something I had to nearly stop for and crawl over we hit at like 40 in Colin's truck and it performed flawlessly.

LOL :burnrubber: It is kinda fun isn't it? The really nice part is I drove approx 200 miles of interstate yesterday at 80mph, never left OD, and got about 17.5 mpg. Could have NEVER done that N/A. That being said I do want more... I might have stagnated on this pickup though. I kinda want a new project. :spy: Toyota, please hurry up and get your shit together.
