anything with "marine" or "boat" in the name or description is typically expensive. what I've found over the years however, is that the prices are actually fairly reasonable due to the very high quality materials used. get a stainless steel hose clamp at the autoparts store for 3 or 4 dollars, and then pay 7 or 8 at a boating store. start sinching both of them down, and not only does the boat one work a lot smoother, but after a year of use and exposure, the autoparts store stainless has started to corrode and deteriorate, while the marine one is going strong.

so you'd think it'd be a similar theory behind why a lot of "race truck" parts, like refueling components are so expensive. turns out that they are indeed made well, but a lot of the high prices are simply because they don't make a lot of them. which is shitty. I am perfectly fine paying a high price for top of the line materials to be used in a product. what I hate is paying that same high price simply because they only make 1,000 a year instead of 100,000. but hey, it is what it is, because at the end of the day, if you really want/need something enough, the price is worth it.

I'm assuming your looking at MIG machines?

Miller 211, dual voltage. Has $200 rebate now and free spool gun.

 

For that type of cash I believe I would have to go with a Hobart 190 and use the rest for a bottle and wire. Or a Hobart mvp 210 if I chose dual voltage.

 

Miller is running a very good mail in rebate right now $200 back and a free spool gun if that gets the price to better level for you. I just picked up a 211 gonna try it out tomorrow. @TacoFMS

 

Been digging mine over the past few weeks. It's getting a workout tomorrow on a bumper kit.
