I looked for calculators and none of them took into account the shackle. Most are used to figure out spring rate but a couple of them included deflection which you could probably use to figure out the difference drooped and compressed and from their figure out your shackle angels and lengths. Or maybe the equations from this article can be used because it takes into account the shackle.

Yeah it looks really nice but that's just that much extra weight on the drivers side. You can make your own and put it over the passenger fenderwell. You just may have to play around with the intake location.

im gonna get bruteforces shackle flip which adds 3/4in of lift and combine it with my 4in expo packs....ill probly need to get a 12in.shock as my 10in icons have about 2.5in more uptravel even with the springs in a negative arch and about 1-2in more down travel also but with the shackle flip it should allow for another 1-2in of uptravel aswell as downtravel......so much math :( i like chris and larrys inverted rear shock setup probly not the best for highspeed stuff though but im not sure

so many shackle flips all of a sudden!

I think I'm going to wait and see what the consensus is after everyone is done figuring them out.

Let me know when you're ready to go dual battery set up I'll make you a smoking deal on an isolator.

The one thing you may run into for drop limitations is the spring arch. when the springs are off of the truck, they have a natural arch. it takes a lot of force to get them to arch further. so even with longer shocks and a shackle flip, it will be hard to get much more than an inch or two extra drop without a linked or sprung under setup.

I like the clearance of the shackle flips, but at this point i'm goin gto avoid them asunless there's some unforseen reason that makes me have to build one. i'm really just trying to avoid the extra lift, and to go with a flip and stay close to where i am, i'd have to have the shackles attache to the frame way up high, like Mike (mjp2) has. and he's had quite a few issues with his setup, like the shackls and the spring retainers rubbign on the frame.

I don't know what's up. I loosened the bolts up but I couldn't get them moving at citrus, I'm not sure if I just need to find bigger stuff to flex on.

billy (bruteforce) has his set up on his truck the way he has his built it will 3/4in lift and the shackle allows the spring pack to drop a good bit further then the stock configuration .....and with my badass bedrack, spare, jack, tools, skids, bumper my rake isnt bad at all :D

One of my local buddy's has been messing with his set up on his 85' for a couple weeks due to his shackles hitting the cab. He ended up going with boomerang shackles he cut himself to stop his front flips from rubbing the body. Totally different animal for totally different uses but you can do just about any angle shackle you want if you do it right and have the flip in the right spot for the leaves. IMO if your taking the time to do a mod like this there is no need to use "OE" parts from different manufacturers to try and make it work like many in here seem to try and do. A little cutting and ingenuity can go a long way.

lol. you able to get a lock for that gas can holder yet?

ultimately, i will probably have a fully rebuilt hanger, relocated to wherever it needs to be. i'm just trying to use the stock hanger for now for a few reasons. the main reason is that this is my daily driver, and i do not have an alternate form of transportation, meaning i can't have the down for more than a weekend. i could commute on a bike once i get back to florida (though not prefferable), but up here, my commute would be suicide on a bike.

other reason i'd like to wait on rebuilding a new hanger is because while general design of a shackle hanger is one of the simpler things on the truck, as you probably know very well, if it's not nearly perfect in both design, and geometry, you blow through bushings, wear your johnny joints, etc.
knowing that the current hangers have been engineered to work. helps memaintain that reliability i need for the time being. plus, the stock hangers are pretty strong, and after an afternoons worth of work, i can have them gusseted, with a bar running between them for more strenth.
