    we sure do :mudding:

i actually just looked at it some more, and its really pretty easy. two bolts that hold the LCA to the spindle, 2 bolts that hold the LCA to the frame, and a single bolt for the lower shock mount. no wires ofr brake lines attached to it, so it's easy to take out, and tangle free. i think i'm just going to take off both sides and beef them up. i want to make a little control arm mounted skid plate type thing that covers the alignment tabs. going to start designing that tomorrow.

this'll also be a good time to ad my limit strap tabs

alright, so after some thinking and consulting with a couple other members on here, the arms will be coming off, bent mount will be heated and bent back into place, and then the mount LCA mounts will be gusseted, and the alignment tabs reinforced. while i'm at it, i'm going to reinforce the lower control arms, and weld on a set of tabs for limit straps.

not sure if i'll make a full on skid like total chaos makes or just a guard for the leading edge. but either way, i'll keep close tabs on what i do in case anyone else wants them afterwards.

just picked up a transfer case skid this evening from another member, so after i chop it up tomorrow, reweld it the way i want, reinforce it, and bolt it up, i'll be fully covered underneath :) get to test it all out this weekend too.

Thanks Jeff. it's tough finding places to wheel, and even harder to find good ones. my closest places are about 2 hours out.

headed down to Gore. a friend of mine (land rover, not tacoma) heard about this little off road driving class they hold anually, and got me a spot before they filled up. i think we'll be a little advanced for the normal class, but it never hurts to reinforce you skills, and apparantly if they have enough guides, they'll take out groups for some harder stuff.

working on a new roof rack today. getting rid of the thule + light bar setup and building a mix of an expedition basket and prerunner bar all in one. hopefully it'll be done or in some fort of resonable shape by the end of the weekend.

    thanks!
still factory sport differentials. i'm waiting to put in lockers until i regear, as i'd rather not have to tear into the diffs twice.
it actually works well though. teetering on two wheels while going up hill is really the big issue, and it's surprising how often you can get into that situation. on flat ground and two wheels you can usually work the brake or bump it to get through.

i don't, but i'm packing it up in a few days to go to florida, so if not sooner, i'll get some pictures then. nothing special right now though since i haven't built the shelf system yet.

I'd like to point out how much better the IFS tacoma (extended travel icons) did vs the solid axle land rover (3 inch lift via new coils and shocks) :) though it was still fairly embarassing how little we both made it up

so i started building a completely new roof rack today. the thule i have on there now is an awesome rack, but to have that plus the light bar, it's a little tall. it's also pretty wide with the crossbars.

the goal for this is to be strong enough to take a hit from a tree if i lean into one on the trail, hold my lights, have a high capacity basket built into it, and do all of this while sitting lower than my preveous setup

only a couple cell phone pictures, but here's the progres so far.

my previous rack sat at 14.5 inches above the roof line

when i factor in a 2 inch tall mout for this one it will only be 10.5 inches, so things are working out well so far

last weekend. went to an off road driving course. after the instructional part we brokeup into easy, medium, and hard groups. i thought it'd be fun to join the hard group and follow the jeep on 38.5''x14.5 inch tires. it was very fun, and challenging at times. the downside of a long wheelbase can be seen when your on very rocky terrain and have to make a tight turn with a tree on the inside of the turn.

here's the tree that did the bedside in. you can see it's already missing bark
