Some plastic welding, and a little fiberglass resin (minus the glass), and the light i snapped off of my roof rack this past meet is back up to speed. hopefully it holds.

hmm that framed out looks familiar.
are we expected rotopack mounts....

 

no rotopax mounts. the horizontal square tube will have quick fists on them however.

the owner isn't going on long distance trips, but often wheels in smaller groups, where self recovery is a priority, since the other vehicle with you may very well be stuck at the same time. so there will be a shovel on one of the quick fists for sure.

 

Is he going to mount a spare on that rack? I still want to have a rack built for me that I can mount two sceptre gas cans, shovel, hi lift, and my spare tire :\ What's the purpose of those two silver bars that go sideways across the rack on the bottom?

 

I think those are temporary spacers for while he's building it.

 

no spare tire mount on this one. just the quick fists for the ax,shovel, etc, and then the removable crossbars that allow him to carry longer items that need to overhand the cab.

let me know when you need jerry can mounts. strongest out there

correct. they are just to insure that the rail mounts stay at the proper spacing during the entire build. they'll be cut out at the end.

 

How much for a Jerry can thing? D they lock?

they do lock. I need to refine the design a little, aesthetically. they start at $80. that's for the single can mount that has a couple tabs on it to mount universally. i can make them to fit factory bed rails, or with tube clamps to attach to a bed cage, etc. pictures are from the very first one i made a few years ago.

 

Yea I'm not happy with my current one..gonna redo it. I just used 1/8" strap and it's a pain.

Looks like ill just have t use some 1" tubing. Seems like it'll work better and easier to fab. I like how Adam did his too. So might do so,elite his and your box. I want it to lock for sure.

I'm sure shipping is a bitch too.

 

on this one i built it to fit the lock. the lock is what held the lid down and kept it tight. it worked, but i would build it so some sort of latch or turnbuckle is what keeps it keeps it closed and takes the load, and have the lock only there for the purpose of security.

 

Agreed kinda what I was going to originally. Ill use strap or something to make it work.
