Awesome! Thank you that definitely gets the Ideas flowing. I am not set on maxtrax, but definitely want some kind of traction aid. I just feel that they are an underestimated.

Question how are those D-Rings hooked up to your bed rail system?

    Thanks, Brady

Glad to help. let me know if you have any speciffic questions about the rack or it's design/construction.

options for such a rack are endless, just depends on how far you want to take it.
for example, I contemplated building one with an integrated over roof rack instead of a separate unit.

Always good to have some traction aids with you, even in a group, and with a winch.

I made a little holder that that bolts into the bed track system. it just has a couple of sleeves that you can bolt shackles through for quick trail access. I may have some more pictures on my other computer. i'll try to find them later.

I like the integrated rack, how did you learn to draw so well?

I really liked the looks of the integrated roof rack, but there were just too many drawbacks for my personal use. I'm all about center of gravity, which is why i only have about an inch of lift at the moment. you have to be especially conceous of COG when you start adding these heavy racks. the integrated roof rack style put a lot more weight up higher than i wanted it. and contrary to the drawing, there is far too much movement between the cab and bed (frame flex) to have the roof portion tied into the roof rails. this means that the roof rack section would have to be cantilevered over the roof. result is it has to be way heavy to gain the carying capacity of a stand-alone roof rack, or you just have to sacrifice strength.

And thanks, I've had a pencil in my hand since i can remember. always drawing boats and planes when i was little :D
Just had a lot of practice over the years, an eventually started taking drafting classes since i have to be able to sketch fairly well for my job.

If I didn't already have a Leer cap For the back of my truck I would've purchased one of Collin's racks along time ago.

The only product I've seen of equal quality and design is what is made by box rocket.

beats me. why on earth would there be a drawing of my truck in my build thread

 Thank you Craig. Having looked up to boxrocket for some time, that means an incredible amount to me.

as long as i don't post a picture of the truck sitting on it's roof rack, it's probably ok enough. aren't you pretty close to it?

seems like all of the good meets of any type are always far away. I'd routinely drive 3 hours to wheel, both in Virginia and Florida. so sub 1.5 hours is just around the corner for me when i compare it to every other place i've wheeled.
