you know, i keep telling myself that, and i keep coming home with dents in the side of my truck

 

but are you keeping an expo style rig that can handle going cross country? that is probly one of the best hands down offroad tire but it will be gone if you drive from texas to moab to virgina and back to texas...no road life or comfort there....the mtrs handle the road wear very well...my battle is between mtrs or getting the new directional irok's but even the iroks will get killed on the street

it'll still be the kind of truck i can drive cross country for sure, but if i have a daily driver, it won't see nearly the road miles it sees now. and even now, i only put about 10k on a year. It's getting to the point where if i have to sacrifice some longevity for performance, that i'm willing to do so. Like any tire, i've seen huge ranges in life for the competition version of that tire, ranging from 15k to 45k. if more research shows that 15k is more standard on those, it's obviously a no go since they'd be half gone after a moab trip from the east coast. i can deal with 20-25k+ though since that's a solid two years at my current driving/year.

One of the other tires i've been eyeing is the pit-bull rocker. seen them perform many a time in person. they are the definition of a buletproof tire, but i have yet to see them at higher speeds. i'd have to verify that capability before buying a set.

 

Anyone have some input on what company to get a pre-filter from, to cover my cone filter. i was just going to pick up the appropriately sized AFE off of Amazon, but don't know much about brand differences. figured they are pretty much the same thing

 

When I was toying with getting a CAI I found a place that would even make custom ones for you. That was years ago and I don't remember though. John White uses one, I think the AFE one.

aside from being landlocked, i really like the area. i'm staying just outside the beltway, and commute 5 minutes to work. perks of the big city, but without the hustle and bustle that usually comes with it.

IF you have some sandbags in the back you should be fine and maybe get the tires sipped to.
