overhauled the trailer this weekend in preparation for picking up some new toys for the summer.
big plans for the trailer in the future, but this should at least get me through the summer for now.......

removed the cap (which will be cut up and metal square tube reused on future projects)

the cap and deck have been on for a good 6 years, and the trailer has always lived outside. so some serious wire wheeling with the grinder was in order, before new paint.

since the old fenders were just welded to the enclosure, I needed new fenders. picked up the biggest ones they had at tractor supply and welded them on.
tail lights were also attached to the enclosure, so I had to make some brackets for those too. temporary though, since I would like to get them mounted in a more protected location eventually.

lowered the coil spring collars a bit to account for not having to support the heavy enclosure any more, and keep the ride height the same.

New sheet of painted plywood for the deck, and we're good to go.

So I had a blowout on one of my 7 year old Icon rears. it failed right at the mitting on the resi hose to the shock body, which is a known failure point on the old style icon 2,0s. A day or two later, I found a guy on here selling some foxes that he had never installed, at half of retail. perfect timing, so I bought them and they came in last night. tossed them on yesterday evening, and am looking forward to seeing if they'll perform as well as the icons. I have the reservoirs mounted piggyback style right now, since the resi hoses are shorter than the icons, requiring me to relocate the resi frame mounts. lack of daylight last night means i'll be doing that this weekend, to get those resis out of harms way.

forgot to post the final product for the kayak hauler rack on the trailer.

both kayaks sit on the top level, made up some curved bars for the bottom support so that one person can easily roll the kayak up into place without requiring a second set of hands. paddle boards and surf boards strap down to the dakine pads in the center, and then there's room for whatever other gear one may need on the deck of the trailer. also welded up a hitch on the tractor to pull the trailer around the yard. wife says it looks ugly sitting in the driveway, so I store it behind the house now. the lawn tractor build/restoration is another project that's been occupying my time recently.

just need to add some quickfists to hold the paddles now.

Hey Colin, where is your write up of the trail camera install? I got a head unit and camera ordered and thought the camera was mounted under the truck but I see from the specs on page 1 I am mistaken. Other than more cameras would you do anything different?

so I went back to the first page, and you've made me aware of two things, Stephen.
    1)my list is severely outdated
2)all of the pictures in the first post are no longer working.

thank you for that, i'll update things shortly!

as for the cameras, I don't think I ever did a true write-up. I just posted some photos of the finished product. the extra cameras for under the chasis has been "in the works" for like 4 years haha. I have all of the cameras, wires, and adaptors in the pocked behind the drivers seat, and just have never gotten around to the install.

are there any specific questions you have about the install? the difference between your setup and mine, will be that I'm not running the feed to a headunit.

Biggest question I have is would you be satisfied with the front bumper if you could only have one mounting location. For some reason I thought under the truck looking forward was a better placement. But then again it's all user preference and I'll probably end up moving it around some anyways.

Past that installation is simple enough so don't feel like there needs to be a write up for me. I might do one somewhere afterwards but that depends how many pictures I remember to take in the process.

off road, the front bumper mounted camera is by far the most useful. however, day to day, with the bed rack and spare tire location I have, my rear view mirror is completely useless, so the always on rear facing camera is a necessity.

if you want to add a third one, skids plates and sliders make you about bulletproof from the front bumper to the start of the bed. a camera facing the driveshaft/rear diff would be the next most useful.

Thanks. That sounds like exactly the feedback I was looking for.

Need to long travel that bad boy. I'm sure pops wouldn't mind.

There's a kid that goes to my gym that drives one of those, left the trunk open in the pouring rain the other day
