well, guess i won't be starting the camera install tonight. just got an email from ups stating that there was a "mechanical issue with one of the delivery vehicles". based on what my tracking number spit out, i can only assume that my package has crash landed somewhere in the middle of Kentucky.........or that it will be here tomorrow as the email indicated. either way, may not be able to get them installed for a week or so now.

mod list is coming along, but exam week + job interviews are keeping me pretty busy.

i may run it through a double din somewhere down the road, but for now, it's the separate monitor.

got the monitor mounted and wired, selector mounted, and one camera mounted/hooked up.

just mounted the first camera as a standard backup. they pivot, so i'll angle it down at the ground when i wheel to see what i'm backing over. the 2nd and third cameras will go under the truck to compliment a spotter, or make it easier when one is not available

almost ready for another blue sea
    [IMG]

selector hooked up to the first camera, tucked up out of the way.

monitor mounted. it pivots on three axes, so it's nice and easy to aim in any direction. got a plug in the storage bin above the head unit so i can quickly take off the monitor and store it when i'm parked in the city or an otherwise shady area.

camera #1 mounted. it has a photocell that turns on the infrared LEDs below a certain light level for "night vision". Works well, but only to about 4-5 feet. so that's why it's under my reverse light. with the reverse light on, it's clear for 40+ feet.

the lights only put out a faint red glow, but a digital camera will pick up the full spectrum of the IR LEDs.

it looks like there is one LED missing from the halo, but that's just where the photocell is located.

so far, with the single camera hooked up to the monitor, i'm very happy with how it is turning out. excited to get the next two cameras mounted under the truck.

just one at a time. these aren't HD cameras, and i'm only using a 7'' screen. with a small screen and medium res cameras, it would be hard to deal with the image size and quality of a split screen setup.

the screen does have 2 video inputs though, so it everything turns out well, i may add a couple more cameras down the road.
