I think that this video is both right and wrong. Not going to college initially was the best choice for me. I wasnt ready. Instead I joined the military, had an adventure, networked, saw what I wanted to do and finally got out and landed the job I wanted. I got a job as an engineer where they required a 4 year degree but waived it due to work experiance.

Now as an engineer with real world experiance and experiance as an end user in the product I develope I can connect what I am doing with the end product. I have design and test engineers coming to me on a regular basis for my help and inputs based on my experiance. I am at a position right now where I can take the time to go back to college if I want to finish my engineering degree or possible nock out all of my basics online and then transfer to a university.

I think the idea of going into college straight out of high school is crazy. Experiancing life, seeing what you want to be, and eventually continuing your education down the road is the path to go. You dont stop learning once your done with high school and college, you continue your whole life to better yourself. In all honesty I would rather work with someone that has no degree but has experiance than the other way around!

Oh, and as for the cost of college. GO US MILITARY and the G.I. BILL. If you want to go to college and cant afford it. Earn it and go serve your country like so many other proud people!!!

There is a lot of false info in that vid. Has a good point but needs to change the facts around a little to keep credibility.

I think it is sensationalized a bit. I also think there is truth to it. If you take out 100K in loans to get a degree in women studies or some crap degree as that then yes, you are screwed and there are others that take out 100K+ on useful degrees that are also screwed but I would be interested in knowing the numbers of people that dont take out student loans and/or repay them in a timely manner and without an issue.

Unfortunatly videos like that have an agenda so they pick and choose which info to show to further there cause. There is truth to it, but you have to take it objectivley and do your own research and make your own decision on what is best for you.

    neglect, mostly.
agreed. sub'd cause i don't have the time to watch it all now, but the 3 minutes i watched got me curious - he makes his statistics from "the average private college". does anyone know what the stats are on public university vs private university enrollment? i would think that well over 50%, more likely 75+% of college students (like myself) go to public universities; which are HIGHLY subsidized by the state it is in. I know my college (NC State, which is a public, land grant university) has low tuition and 80 something percent of the "cost per student" is state funded. . . . . .. . just didn't know how much about the video is gonna be about money and what the validity of what he is trying to get at is all about.

anyway, i'll watch it piece by piece over the next few days when i get the time and comment further. . . .

And with this, just because you use the GI BILL to go to school its not free. All of us on TW helped pay your school, thus feeding into the "College Conspiracy". Hell they even pay your rent while you go to school with our tax dollars.

I think I am smart for attending Junior College my first two years of college. I think I paid a total of ~$1000. Every year I was accepted for financial aid. So all I really had to pay for was books. I have a pretty large school account that my grandparents had saved for me, and I have yet to touch it(hoping I won't have to). I should be getting my letter for financial aid next week. The main part I'm worried about is paying for my masters. Do they offer financial aid for masters? A guy I work with said theres tons of companies out there willing to give out money for school(his daughter did this for her masters) but he couldn't remember what they were...guess I'll have to start googling.

look for a company that specializes in the field in which you are studying. Talk to them and see if they have any programs that you can start working for them and they will help with your education. Then you get your degree and have a job. Takes a lot of looking tho.
