Valid points. One of the two teams was going to feel 'left out' of the big dance. Still, the Fiesta Bowl is a nice consolation prize. (I keep telling myeslf that about the Sugar Bowl... Nice to have that kind of game to 'fall back' on.)

Also, as much as Texas and OU fans would have enjoyed a re-match for the national title, nobody else in the country would have cared. I firmly believe that no team deserves a shot at the BCS National Title w/o first winning it's own conference. (I also happen to believe that all conferences should have a championship game, but we'll leave that for another day.)

Some people say that the SEC is no longer the best conference in college football, having been passed by the Big 12. That may be true this year if you look at the conferences top to bottom... but we still have the last two BCS champions, and we have a team in the title game again this year. I think I've said this in this thread before... I would put the SEC champion up against anybody in the country, any year.

I think the Pac10 should pick up Boise State and Utah so that they aren't a joke of a conference with a single super star and 3 or 4 second class schools. Split them up and get a real conference champion out of it. They could still play the big10 (though they ought to pick up another team so that they are up to 12 schools too).

I completely agree. I really think the only reason that the big 10 is holding off on picking up another school because there's already a big 12 and they don't know what they'd call themselves. Maybe they're just trying to figure out how to 'hide' the number 12 in the Big 10 logo. (How stupid is that 11, anyway?)

Notre Dame should be added to the big 10. The fact that football is independent while the rest of their sports are Big East is stupid.

Doubt the Pac will pick up anyone else in the near future...they keep clinging to this "tradition" bs. I'm sick of it.

You know, if we dropped theRose Bowl, we could easily do a +1 system. Take the top 4 BCS teams play and play 1 versus 4 and 2 versus 3 (2 bowls used) then play the winners for the championship (3rd bowl used). In this system you would do as usual and rotate the championship bowl location each year so all bowls would host it on a 3 year cycle.

F the Rose Bowl and the Pac10 if they want to cling to it.

How 'bout this... Instead of using 3 BCS bowls to do the +1 (which would mean that a single team would necessarily be the champion of two traditional bowl games), just use two of them.

Before they had the BCS Championship game, they rotated the BCS bowl that would serve as the national championship. How 'bout we go back to that: Pick two of the four BCS bowls each year to serve as the semi-final game, then the winners of those games move on to the BCS Championship. That way, no one team wins both the Orange and Sugar, or Fiesta and Orange, etc. AND we have a +1 system.

None of it is going to matter when Florida beats OU.

It'll be fun to watch two heisman winning QBs play head to head, too. Last time we had two Heisman's on the field in a national championship game they were both in the USC backfield... in a LOSS to Texas.

Good luck not wearing your special teams out on Chizik next year. War Eagle, more like Battle Pigeon.

You should live around here! His reception has been brutal, and for good reason. I think you're doing a dis-service to pigeons with your comment. I've been a Bama fan as long as I can remember, and this is the first time I actually feel something close to sympathy for them. Close.

Here's a video of the Auburn AD returning from Iowa. It gets really funny around the 0:35 mark. The video of Chizik arriving later that night isn't as funny. The cheerleaders, entire athletic department, and Aubie were there to greet him. I think they did all they could to keep actual fans away from the airport.

BTW, Congrats to your boy on the Heisman. He was certainly deserving.

My Seminoles won the Citrus Bowl, 42-13 against Wisconsin! Hopefully they can work on this for next season!

How 'bout them Huskers? If the game had been earlier in the season I might have pulled for Clemson to make Bama look better, but since everything is already decided it doesn't matter too much. Plus my dad went to Nebraska in the 70's. Actually saw 2 national championships while he was there.

    Sugar Bowl tomorrow... ROLL TIDE!

Alabama seems to have underestimated the Utes.
