I don't understand why they cant pull the bed and replace that crumple section. cut the rivets and slam in some new pieces. This is the third truck I have seen with this problem. Its a factory designed crumple zone to protect the frame and passengers. But why protect the frame if your going to replace it anyway?

It happened on I565 in Hsv, AL and we were doing 70 when an accident in front of us had traffic stopped. Of course everyone stopped but her and we figured she was doing 25-35mph. The impact pushed me ahead about 5ft but her Sonoma was crushed in the front. I just thought I had a bent rear bumper but stupid me for thinking. Should have taken the exit when I saw traffic stopping. Stevebaz, I would rather rip my fingernail out than have them disassemble the truck to replace the frame.

You spend that kind of money on a truck, and you are seriously considering that kind of repair job? How much duct tape did the used car manager find on the car you traded in on this truck? Not smart dude. Please tell me you are trolling.

If you don't fix the frame well enough and get in another wreck in the future, it will give the insurance company a reason not to pay out. At all.

    I'd get the frame replaced.

    Just my $0.02

Man you guys are harsh, did you not read through the thread? I'm letting Toyota install the new frame. The woman's insurance is covering the $12k tab for the whole thing. It is what it is, I'm just hoping the frame install goes right!

Yeah, it does suck, especially on a brand new truck. But at least you weren't hurt or killed, that's the most important thing.

Toyota dealers have a LOT of experience replacing frames these days. New gen isn't that different enough for that to make a difference. I remember seeing piles of old frames at one of the local dealers from the rot recalls.

Yes, there are alot worse things happening in this world today than a bent frame. For anyone having to deal with the snow, cold, wrecks and heartache of losing loved ones, may you find peace.
