What are some of your experiences with hitting medium or large sized animals in your truck?
    1. How fast were you going?
    2. What kind of bumper did you have?
    3. What amount of damage was done to your vehicle?

Hmm, doing 63 down a 55 at dusk in a 2007 Silverado with a steel bumper. launched a deer 30+ft forwards in the air. It dented the hood, broke the grill and removed the plastic air dam. Went back for the plastic bits and didn't see it. There was some hair in the grill but no blood. Hope it survived after that... another time one ran into the bed of my truck while going under the limit.

bumpers only matter if you run into them.

when they run into you, there's really no protection for that...

was travelling about 45mph, 3 deer came out of the woods. slammed on the brakes and turned slightly to avoid the first two, 3rd that i couldn't see was trailing behind, nosed the front door and rotated into a body slam into the rear door.

i could've hit the 2nd deer with the grille if i hadn't used the brakes. but at the time i thought i was only avoiding 2 deer, not 3.

personally, i'm still more satisfied with the side impact instead of the grille impact. too much stuff up front that could've gotten far more screwed up.

Picked up my Tacoma late September and had it for a staggering 12-1/2 hours before I hit a deer. I was doing about 60 mph when I hit it. Relatively minor damage at $3,700.00.
