Today I color matched my 2 Rocky Mounts Clutch SDs. I used Duplicolor perfect match spray paint and 8 coats of clear coat. Color Matches perfectly in direct sunlight, it's a hair dark in shade. Metal flake is spot on.

Did you sand them any before painting?

I have the grey ones and would like to paint them black so they blend in better. I just don't want the paint peeling off in a few months.

Yes, I sanded them with 200 grit, then 320 grit, primered them, 4 coats of paint, followed by 8 coats of clear coat. I was pretty impressed with the Duplicolor nozzle, it came with one of the adjustable nozzle, very easy to apply.

    An update:

I did this project about 8 months ago. So far, the paint is still intact, no scratches, or cracks. My truck sits outside and is exposed to all weather elements. Paint hasn't even begun to fade.
