Well I was going to paint my grille this weekend because I hate chrome with a passion (nothing against you guys who have it, just a personal preference) but after searching the DIY threads Im not liking the results, particularly the fact that the color doesnt match up perfectly with the rest of the truck.

So, I was wondering, where would I go to get my grille color matched with the rest of my truck? Anybody know how much it would cost? Positive/Negative experiences with particular companies?

Or how bout a brand new grille, anybody know the cost of that?

I had mine painted by a body shop, I dont think its posible to ever have it match perfectly, but I agree that doing it yourself doesnt seem to match very well. Mine matches fairly well but not perfect.

    Cost was about 100 dollars

I hate the chrome. I'm just trying to decide which would look better on my Timberland Mica, color matched or black.

Mine matched perfectly(radiant red) although I should have sanded better. I got a couple small chips. If you have the money, going the real thing might be best.

I painted my emblem, using about 3 coats. Then started the acrylic enamel coating (put one coat on so far). Now I realized some spots need more paint. Can I paint over? Will it bond right?

I think most people paint it themselves.

I bought other stuff from TRDParts4u.com and I'd reccomend that route. I just finished painting a grille up, and I am not as happy as I could be with it and I'd never do it again. Came out darker then the rest of the truck and I am afraid to go any farther on the sanding to get smoother/shiny. for the cost of paint and hassle and fumes, I wish I would have just bought it.

As long as they make your color in the "sport" model you will be able to buy one in your color. If they didn't make the sport model, you will have to paint it yourself or have it painted...:(
